    Samsung LN37A550P3FXZA - washed out colors

    I have referenced https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=35193.

    I seem to have the washed out pictures on my Samsung LN37A550P3FXZA. And have tested my T-con board voltages. My problem is that the board does not give the numbered sequence so I can easily tell if they are increasing/decreasing in order. So I number them myself as in my attached pictures and the voltages are:

    20 1.12 1.13 1.24

    From this forum, I guess my T-con is bad. Why are the numbers so different with and without the picture? Should they be different? Can it be anything other than the T-con board? If I choose to replace the gamma chip, is that most likely the ONLY thing that can be wrong with the T-con board? Otherwise, the TV works as normal, and the MENU is aligned straight, no jagged edges, but has unusual colors too. Has anyone had success buying from the many available Samsung T-con boards available directly from china? Please advise.......

    Note: I recently stayed in a hotel in Rochester MN, that had ALL the same model, 2008 Samsung TVs in every room and lobby and are still going strong....

    Those aren't gamma voltages you've measured. A photo of the tcon will help.

    I've found a photo of your TV. There are no gamma test points. Just replace the gamma IC.
    I've replaced loads and it's those every time.

      VGMAxx are the GAMMA Voltage test points, they are close to the connectors that go to the LCD panel.

        Well, duh, my resume says I am low voltage........sorry about that......see the attached pic here, assuming those are the gamma chip test points.....and resulting voltages:

        1=15.45
        2=15.39
        3=15.23
        4=12.20
        5=7.67
        6=2.25
        7=7.07
        8=9.65
        9=8.16
        10=7.89
        11=7.84
        12=6.59
        13=6.54
        14=6.26
        15=5.01
        16=4.81
        17=4.34
        18=3.55
        19=2.88
        20=0.53
        21=0.40
        22=0.35

        Thanks guys, hey diif, will any ole AS15-F from china/ebay do or source? I got lots of electronic stuff around here .....what kind of stuff is likely to have a AS15-F on it?

        Does the AS15-F chip have a metal substrate soldered to the board? I am ABSOLUTELY gonna need a hot air gun to get this off and installed again or can I do it with an iron?

          Yeah, source from Aliexpress or ebay if you can't wait, they aren't very expensive. They have a ground pad underneath so hot air to remove. Don't forget to replace the silicone heatsink if it has one.

            Another victory for the electronic wizards of Bad Caps Forum !!! Replacing the AS15-F fixed my Samsung LN37A550P3FXZA - washed out colors perfectly. Thanks guys, not only to diff and Budm, but all the others that do the troubleshooting help on this great forum, thru the many other similar threads that help me prevail. Another one saved from the landfill and playing the NBA Finals perfectly....hopefully for a long time.

            The new AS15-F running temp is 94 degrees w/o the metal heat sink, with the following voltages: (funny how they are very similar except for the 5 bad ones....could those have been cold solder joints?)

            1=15.42
            2=15.36
            3=15.21
            4=12.38
            5=11.57
            6=10.61
            7=10.05
            8=9.78
            9=8.27
            10=7.92
            11=7.87
            12=6.62
            13=6.57

                i know this is fixed now but another option would have been to get the AS15 chip replaced via a repair service

                In the uk we have a few people offering TCON repair services on ebay
