    SANYO DP42861 HDMI Wanky

    I have a Sanyo DP42 LCD TV...

Composite and component inputs work fine..

The HDMI connectors don't work.. The detect a signal, but won't display.. I have used known good cables...

    But here's the weird thing..

I have tried it with a PS3.. I even reset the video on the PS3.. No display..

I have hooked up an LG Blu Ray player.. I *DO* get the LG boot up display, but then nothing..

I have even hooked up a PC to it.. I *DO* get a display.. I see the console boot up text and it even displays the WINBLOWS desktop @ 1024x768

This leads me to believe it's some sort of resolution issue. Maybe the PS3 and the LG device doesn't have low enough resolution...

Anyone have an idea?? Any assistance would be appreciated...

Yea, that's what I thought as well..

I have several HDMI devices.. DVD player, BLU RAY player, Computer, Playstation 3, etc..

The only one that gives me a full HDMI display is the computer.. I don't understand why it would work, but none of the other dedicated HDMI devices will..

It's driving me to drink! Well, actually more of a short walk, but still...

      Thanx for the reply...

These older sanyo tv's had hdmi compatability issues with some devices, try using an older dvd player if you have one and see if that works.

Marantz SR4003 AVR HDMI board issue, seeking for help
            by aliougm
I have problem with my AVR(Marantz SR4003) HDMI board issue. I connect to my TV but screen color distorted, see attached picture.

            Connection as below:
            Set-top box HDMI output >AVR 3 HDMI input/one HDMI output>HDTV HDMI port
If I bypassed AVR then HDTV screen color be good.

I take out HDMI board from AVR and check services manual the schematic shown the HDMI signals path:
            3 HDMI input port > SIL9185 chip(HDMI switch) > SIL9033 chip(HDMI receiver) > SIL9030 chip(HDMI transmitter) > HDMI output port

            I replaced all...

Certain DisplayPort-HDMI cables can disable HDMI CEC communication
            by japlytic
With a setup including a TV and AV receiver where HDMI Consumer Electronics Control (CEC) and Audio Return Channel (ARC) functions were working, these two functions stopped working after changing some connections (not the one between the AV receiver and TV), so I believed it was a corrupt setting in the AV receiver or TV, but when I disconnected a passive DisplayPort-HDMI cable (which a Multimode DisplayPort connector supports HDMI with a low cost passive cable or adaptor) connected to a home theatre PC, HDMI CEC and ARC functionality was restored.
An examination of the HDMI CEC wiring...

LG LCD TV HDMI PORT FAULTY
            by RossMoodley1967
LG LCD TV picture comes on intermittenly using hdmi port. The sound is on permantly. The hdmi ports looks fine and soldered in securely. The 3.4v coming to the main board is not present(not sure if will affect the hdmi port or where that voltage goes.)The hdmi cable is fine because it works on another tv.The ceramic caps connected to the hdmi controller ic is reading 39 ohms.Could the hdmi controller ic be faulty(feels very warm to touch). The RCA jacks work normally .Thank you in advance for your assistance..

            Pioneer VSX-44 receiver HDMI dropouts
            by RatherLoopy
I have an older Pioneer receiver (VSX-44) that's been dropping the HDMI output (black screen) for a few seconds every few minutes. Setup is HTPC -> Pioneer DVD HCMI in -> Pioneer HDMI out -> Samsung TV HDMI in, all with cheap HDMI cables that have never caused trouble before..

I initially found a lot of play in the receiver's HDMI inputs and output so I kind of squeezed them back into shape and they're making a tighter connection, but the problem persists.

And also, often, the HDMI will drop out in exactly the same way (black screen) just as my central air...

ESD Diode on HDMI output of Yamaha a1050 RCVR
            by budwich
I lost one of the two hdmi outputs on a yamaha rx-a1050 receiver. Of course, it is the hdmi1 which has the arc capability which was useful. The second output hdmi works OK.

I got an hdmi breakout board which gave me access to the "little guys" in the hdmi. I did some gross DC voltage measurements to ground and found that the Data1 pair (4 and 6) had a lower voltage than the working hdmi.... 1.1v versus 2.9. All others pins seem to be OK. Further when plugged into a display, there is no video but a message on the screen which I assume is the display's status for the...
