Sony Bravia KDL-55XBR8 Button Issues

    Sony Bravia KDL-55XBR8 Button Issues

    Hi! I was able to get a Sony KDL-55XBR8 for free off of craigslist tonight... They had told me that it did not turn on. When I got home the TV turned on fine but had a seemingly common vertical line issue, I was able to fix this easily by just cleaning the connections to the T Con board.

    The TV appears to be working fine now picture wise (static) but I am unable to change input/volume/anything.... The only button on the remote that does anything is the power button. On the TV itself there is a physical power "button" that works every time and a separate area that has more touch sensitive areas that are supposed to do things like input/volume/channel/etc. These buttons don't do anything. I am unable to get to a menu or change inputs or anything

    When I press the glass to press the button the TV does register my touch by making the the led wording brighter.

    Any ideas on where to begin trouble shooting this?

      See if you can do a firmware update/reapply with a usb drive.

          Also try unhooking the button board and see if your remote works then.

              Thanks for the suggestions!

              I followed sony's directions but wasn't able to do a firmware update. It said it should happen automatically after inserting the USB and it never did...

              I unplugged the board which caused the button lights to go out but the remote still did not work.

                  Did you follow this procedure step by step? should have worked, if you did that and no joy, maybe try having usb inserted before you plug tv in then turn tv on and see if that does the trick. https://www.sony.ca/en/electronics/s...loads/W0004519

                      Did you figure this out? Same issue with my 55XBR8

                              I have a strange fault on a Sony amplifier. The volume control varies the display from MIN, then 1 up to 30 and then MAX as expected. At MIN there is no sound. However, at 1 it is quite loud and increasing above 1 does not change the sound level.

                              I have tried a Cold Reset as per the service manual.

                              I have looked at the I2C clock and data to volume control chip IC501 (BD3499FV). Data is only sent to IC501 when the volume is set to MIN or 1. At any other setting no data is sent to IC501.

                              I have looked all the way through the service manual and tried many online...

                              Seven Leagues Slot Machine stop button issues

                              I don't know if anyone here has experience with Japanese slot (pachislo) machines, but I sure hope so. I bought this machine last week in semi-working order. It would play and the reels would spin, but the stop buttons would not stop them at all. I found that the high-frequency filtering tantalum capacitor was bad on the reel stop board, along with the fuse being blown. I replaced the fuse and removed the capacitor. I haven't replaced the cap yet because I didn't have one on hand, but it's not necessary for the operation of the machine.

                              The issue now is the Stop buttons are intermittently...

                              I have a Sony Bravia KDL-40V2500 that will not power on. The indicator flashes red 3 times.
                              I do not hear any sound and I cannot see any backlight.
                              I have tried disconnecting every cable on each board one at a time to see if anything changes.
                              The only change is when I disconnect AC-DET cable on the Power Supply board or on the other end if I unplug the CN7009 connection on the B-Board and try to power on the TV the indicator will stay on solid green until I power off.
                              My friend ordered another used power supply board but it is also doing the red indicator flash 3 times...

                              i have this sony bravia kdl-43w755c which boot loops. After sony logo, it shows the android animation loading then it restarts…
                              from what i read online it looks to be an emmc issue…
                              i’m not familiar with this kind of tv repairs… i’m repairing laptops and gpu’s…
                              i took out the board and say an samsung 16gb emmc
                              i don’t have an exact replacement, but i have a few 32 and 64gb emms’s from laptops…
                              i could try to put one instead of the 16gb one, but will it work?
                              where do i get the software from?
                              any help will be much appreciated!...
