• Re: Sony Bravia KDL-55XBR8 Button Issues

Thanks for the suggestions!

I followed sony's directions but wasn't able to do a firmware update. It said it should happen automatically after inserting the USB and it never did...

I unplugged the board which caused the button lights to go out but the remote still did not work.

• Sony Bravia KDL-55XBR8 Button Issues

Hi! I was able to get a Sony KDL-55XBR8 for free off of craigslist tonight... They had told me that it did not turn on. When I got home the TV turned on fine but had a seemingly common vertical line issue, I was able to fix this easily by just cleaning the connections to the T Con board.

The TV appears to be working fine now picture wise (static) but I am unable to change input/volume/anything.... The only button on the remote that does anything is the power button. On the TV itself there is a physical power "button" that works every time and a separate area that has more...

Hi everyone, I just wanted your advice in determining what might be wrong with this tv. I got this TV for free because I was told that there was a vertical line running down the left side that wouldnt go away. I've never encountered this but I thought it might be important for the history...

My problem is that there is horrible ghosting almost to the point of the picture being unwatchable. This doesn't go away after the TV has been on a while either.

So my question is, should I start replacing things or is this just that crappy of a TV?

Pictures to...

Great! thanks for helping clear that up, I've used digikey a few times in the past. I'll post back if there's anything I can't find now. Thanks again!

• Re: Motorcycle Ignitor box?

I found the 1N4007 diodes and the capacitors. But I can't find any of the "Q or Z" type parts. I also don't really know what I'm doing as far as getting the right resistors, I get that 300 ohm means I should get a 300 ohm resistor but what about the other specifications? and I don't really know what he's talking about when he puts things like "3,9k". Sorry to need my hand held... I'm able to follow "recipes" pretty well usually, it just turns out I'm a terrible cook...

• Motorcycle Ignitor box?

Hey guys I was wondering if any of you could help me with re-making this DIY project I found online. Original link is here: http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum/showthread.php?t=182719

Basically I can't find the parts he lists on digikey but I'm also pretty new at all of this. I've fixed a few electronics and I'd really like to give this project a try. I think the basic problem here is I'm too clueless to understand what he's listing in his parts list...

Anyone have any advice on where to get custom pcbs printed? It seems like the cheapest place I found...

• Re: Samsung Syncmaster 2220wm

Good tip! When I re-opened the case the one ccfl wire shrink had a small nick from a sharp solder point! So I did the lazy man's fix and just put a little electrical tape on it. It's working like a charm now guys. Thanks so much!

So I replaced the lamps and everything looked good. My two seconds to black was gone! So I re-assembled it all and tried to turn it on, Still good! so I put it on my desk replacing my 19" everything worked great.
I came back a little while later and the monitor had gone into sleep mode, I moved the mouse and it came back just as it should but turned off again after 2 seconds...
So this morning I tried again after leaving it unplugged over night and it was good, until I left it. When I came back two seconds to black.
Now I've...

• Re: Samsung Syncmaster 2220wm

The fuse was the cause of my power failure, I replaced it and it turns on with 2 secs to black like before.

The two outputs measured 5.1 and 5.09 so then my power board is good? Leaving me with bad ccfls or a bad logic board?...

• Re: Samsung Syncmaster 2220wm

ok, I'll see if I can find a fuse tomorrow and put it in.
I believe it blew because I was too lazy to put all the screws back in when I tested it, which must have allowed the board to hang down a little bit and come into contact with the metal cover on the lcd

edit:
I found this fuse http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2103767 will this work? Above the fuse on the board it says T4A/125V which I assumed meant 4 amps 125 volt. It might look a little ghetto with a holder for it mounted on, but at least...

• Re: Samsung Syncmaster 2220wm

Before I waste my time and potentially risk ruining my nice working 22" samsung monitor...what are the odds that the connections and things would be the same (working monitor is a little newer)?

There's a board on ebay and if I can use my working monitors board to test I think that might be the best route

D801 and Q804
All combinations yield a "1 ." I assume this is not good? I'm set at 200 on my MM.

1) No LED at all, Before it used to turn on as soon as it was plugged in. Then when I pressed the power button I would get the 2 seconds to black. Now it's off if I press the power button or no. I may have popped f802 originally it was reading 00.3 now it's 1 . I'll try to jump it if you think that might be the cause to this most recent problem at least

2) Yes, i've unhooked/hooked everything up a few times and looked at all the cables and they look undamaged.

3)

I think that it might just have been the light when I took the picturebecause they look good right now.
Also I think I mis-spoke, I changed out all the barrel shaped caps. I never did anything with the disc shaped ones because I don't know how to find the specs for a replacement

Ugh, I thought I would take it apart again to have a better look at the board and now the piece of crap won't even power on anymore.... This might be the last nail in this coffin. Any ideas?
