Piva 15" LCD/DVD/VGA runs while power button depressed

I had it apart a while back and have images, but they are not very clear in details.

This is an "Anti-Shock" portable device and I ran it in a vehicle with the provided DC power cord as both a TV/DVD player and secondary display for my laptop. It's is really nice and convenient, so I would like to repair it if possible.

I found nothing obvious when I had it apart and inspected it. Except a ugly looking solder joint on the bezel control board (corrected). Also swapping power supplies (external like many laptops) had no effect.

Does anyone have any ideas on where to start? I have a couple cheap DMMs and follow directions quite well

I'll pull it apart again and carefully recheck and inventory the caps... just to double check.

If it runs when you press the power button shine a bright flashlight on the LCD.

If you see a faint image check the inverter. The tiny PCB all the way to the right with the purple (probably Hermei) cap on it.

Re: Piva 15" LCD/DVD/VGA runs while power button depressed

      Thanks for the quick reply.

The back light works fine. What I mean by runs is that it starts up and if in DVD mode will boot to the menu of the DVD in the drive and then not respond to the remote. So unless the DVD auto plays, say after a delay it will not continue, as it will not respond to the remote while the power button is depressed. As soon as I release the power button on the bezel it powers down, I can almost select an option on a DVD first but it will power down.

Same thing in any other mode.

Tuner mode - starts, displays whatever channel it is on, and will not respond to the remote. Powers down when the button is released.

VGA Mode - Same, which is almost OK but eventually you need both hands for something

It will start from a power up command on the remote, but then depending (it seems) on how hot or cool the device is, may either reach a DVD menu or just start booting the DVD before it will recycle and retry. It will recycle the power state like this endlessly. The only thing that seems to happen is the cycle gets shorter the hotter it gets. Note: I never let this go on longer than about 4 -5 minutes.

I suppose I can open it up and put the boards in a the freezer to see if they then start and run. Then when it starts again do one board at a time.

Check all of the boards over for cracked solder joints.

HP Envy 13-BA1565na with intermittent power button
          by themosttogain
Hope someone can give me some suggestions on this because i'm at my wits end with it...

I have an Envy 13-BA1565na here with an Intel Core i7 i7-1165G7 CPU (board is a LA-J475P Rev 1.0) which has an intermittent power button issue. The power button is integrated into the keyboard, and I have ruled out the keyboard, BIOS and battery as being the issue.

Basically, on mains power, the power button works fairly well. The first time you come to it after leving it sitting (either on charge or not on charge), it might take 2 or 3 presses of the button, but then the laptop boots...

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
          by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

          Assuming...

Asus FX517ZC charges but power button does nothing
          by TimeRabbit07
          Hi all!

I've got an Asus FX517ZC on the bench at the moment and I just can't figure out what's going on with it.

Here are its various numbers and identifiers:
          Model short: FX517Z
          Model long: FX517ZC-HN114W
          SN: NANRCX01S57842E
          CN: 3SDB 12M
          MFD: 2022-10
          Motherboard model: DA0NJLMBAE0 REV E

          Symptoms:
The laptop's charge light comes on, but when the power on button is pressed nothing happens. No fan spin, no caps lock, no screen or keyboard backlight, nothing.

          Macbook Air - 2018 - A1932 - 820-01521-02 - Bootlooping if Power Button Connected
          by reessi
          Hello,

With the power button connected it either boot loops with the apple logo or no display but the charging meter shows it looping on charging every few seconds.

          No corrosion any where!

Tried a replacement power button off ebay and the same.

Very occasionally it will work with the power button connected!

Same results with or without the battery.

Can it be a fault with the Audio board or the mainboard?

The touch Id assembly connects through the Audio board first then to the Mainboard.

Desoldering gun station modified to use a 18 volt @ 20 amp switching power supply
          by sam_sam_sam
I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...
