How does this cable release? I pulled on the white piece a little but didn't want to break it. Thanks

Re: LVDS Cable removal
It might be the type that flips up, try flip up the white piece with thumb nail if it is it will flip up pretty easy.Last edited by nomoresonys; 02-13-2019, 04:47 PM.Quit because THIS SITE LETS A ROGUE MEMBER TYPE ANY GARBAGE HE PLEASES AND THE POWERS THAT BE NEVER DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT SO HE NEVER QUITS. Re: LVDS Cable removal
I thought he meant the lvds cable, per the title, need to clarify which cable you are trying to remove if the smaller all white one then yes press down while gently pulling off.Last edited by nomoresonys; 02-13-2019, 05:42 PM.Quit because THIS SITE LETS A ROGUE MEMBER TYPE ANY GARBAGE HE PLEASES AND THE POWERS THAT BE NEVER DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT SO HE NEVER QUITS. Re: LVDS Cable removal
Ok, down not up, most important is to do it very lightly as to not break anything while figuring out how they come off.Quit because THIS SITE LETS A ROGUE MEMBER TYPE ANY GARBAGE HE PLEASES AND THE POWERS THAT BE NEVER DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT SO HE NEVER QUITS. Re: LVDS Cable removal
That is correct, the brown part is the stationary part of the connector, the white part is the release, Its a thin connector, how far do you expect it to move?
But looks like it worked and you were able to remove the lvds cable withoutdamage.Comment

Re: LVDS Cable removal
Is it a Sony by any chance ? That's where you tend to see these the most. I got stumped a lot too, until my colleague broke one and we realised, like others have said, you're supposed to push down ("into" the board) the white U shape part and pull on the ribbon gently and it should come out. To reinsert it, simply push it in and it should lock itself in place. Cheers.Wattevah...Comment

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....-

by ResoluteHawkCould anyone explain the reasoning behind why connecting an LVDS or eDP cable into a laptop motherboard, with the battery still connected, kills the CPU/PCH/SuperIO/GPU?
Today I had a customer with a Lenovo Legion 5 that I diagnosed as a dead iGPU inside their Ryzen 5900HX. They told me that they connected their screen to the motherboard without first disconnecting the battery.
I want to understand the nitty gritty behind why it kills components if power is not disconnected first. -
by alfredomfr112v pin is shorted to ground in the LCD board (1st picture) if the LVDS cable is disconnected, 12v are OK in the Main Board (2nd Picture)4 Photos
