Sagem Axium HD-D50H G4 - does anyone know how to dismantle it?

    Hi guys
I'm trying to fix this Sagem Axium HD-D50H G4-T/2 DLP TV

The power light flashes continually and after turning on for a few seconds it makes a loud mechanical buzzing noise - like a fan spinning with some wires catching in it or something like that. When it failed it suddenly started the noise and the picture went blurred but after turning off it wouldn't come back on again

I had a spare lamp here so fitted that but it still won't fire up

I'm pretty sure it simply is clogged up with crap inside as it is about 13 years old and has never been cleaned. With the side panels off I can see there is a lot of dust and pet hair inside the base enclosure but it is difficult to get in there to clean anything.

Problem is I just can't figure out how to separate the top part of the set from the base so I can get to the fans and in particular the colour wheel!!

Normally I can just google for a teardown tutorial on anything I ever come across but I'm not finding anything for this damn thing.

Having removed a zillion screws I have the metal panel off the back but cant get the PCBs out so I don't think I can get access that way

I unfastened all the screws I can see that hold the front bezel to the back of the set but there is something holding the middle bottom section of the front bezel (it curves down into the base section) but can't see what holds the bezel onto the base.

I did take a metal strip off the top of the screen and peered down inside but I can see that even removing the screen isn't going to help me a lot.

The top section is almost free from the base now and only fixed along the front edge but I think there are possibly some hidden screws on the middle front area of the base section that hold it to the top. Getting the front bezel off might give access to those hidden screws (if indeed they do exist) but as I said I can't figure out how to get the bezel off.

Has anyone here ever dismantled one of these DLP TVs and can advise me where i am going wrong?

    best regards
    Richard

I figured it out myself eventually. There are two plastic clips underneath that hold the subwoofer speaker panel on to the base unit. Once I removed that then I could remove the front bezel and get to the 5 hidden screws holding the base section to the top section.

Cleaned all the dust and crap out but it still makes a very loud buzzing noise after several seconds. The two fans are spinning. Can't figure where the noise comes from but I am sure it is mechanical. Can't see where the colour wheel is to check if it is that.

The noise you here is likely the color wheel spinning, it will be in the light engine in front of the light tunnel which is in front of the lamp.
You do know the saying "a picture is worth a thousand words", use Go Advanced to attach them.
If you can here it spinning it is likely not your problem. even a shattered color wheel will give a black & white picture as long as the motor is spinning
