    Phillips PSU bad capacitor

    Hello,

I have a small problem. I found that 2 blue disc ceramic capacitor are burned.
I cant read the value from them. On PSU are marked with C705 and C734.
PSU is from philips TV. PSU code is DPS-298CP A. Can anyone please tell me caracteristic of this two capacitors?

    Thanks for the help.

possibly the same as the lower pair, show a bigger picture.

yea, looks like 2 identical circuits.
so all 4 are the same.
a good time to point out that they rarely fail without help - either the soldering was poor, or the tubes are very worn.

Thank you! What are those numbers writen on PSU like C705? I know C is for capacitor but what are numbers for?

those numbers are just to reference the position against a diagram or parts list in a service manual.

            what's printed on the caps??

              this is likely 47uF and 33uF (DPS-298CP-A).

They can not be in uF range. Most likely 22nF/3KV or similar.
OP should tell us what he reads on the lower pair.

Edit: stj is right. You should check the bulbs and also the transformer. Those caps rarely fail.

Is it possible to test small ceramic disc capacitor with analogue meter?
                  by chth96
I read EBOOK of Testing Electronic Component and found that

"In order to test the small blue resin coated ceramic disk capacitor which has 104 50v specification,it is possible to test this small ceramic capacitor by making use of analogue meter.
Set to times 10Kohm that has 12v output from the probe to check disorder of ceramic capacitor.
It is not uncommon that testing result of digital capacitance meter is okay,But It show shorted reading when you check it with analogue meter."

Is it really possible to test small ceramic disc capacitor with analogue...

                  by Prolog
Hi people, I hope this is the correct spot to post this, I'm new to the forum.

I have an RTX 3080 Founders Edition which has a burnt up capacitor (it was in parallel with another capacitor which appears damaged too), so I am hoping to be able to identify the capacitor values and order replacements.

I hope these photos make it clear which component I am referring to:
(yes, the soldering is a bit botched from removing the blown one, I know)

I have found the board schematic (attached), but there does not seem to be a boardview available. I have never...

PS5 Disc Not Supported/ Disc Not Recognized Board Num: EDM-020
                  by Junior††

                  Good Afternoon fellas,

                  Issue:
Disc is showing as not supported when a disc is put in.

Here's what I've done, you can skip this if you just wanna know the question:
                  - replaced with a disc drive from a donor ps5 (honestly questionable if this is known to work)
                  - reflowed the disc drive connector
-reflowed the chip in question (shown on image)
                  - I will say this console was very dusty so it's conceivable that it got so hot that it made the chip joints cold and potentially other things on the board

                  Question:
                  I...

If I replace with inferior capacitor, Is it No harm to other IC components at all?
                  by chth96
I replaced some capacitor which is located on optical pickup pcb which is shown in the table below(PCB #2).Because it have been out of order.
Now,It works very well,But I just have found that all caps (6svpc100my and other part number as well) ,which is shown in the table below, has ultra-high ripple current spec.
It is not able to obtain any capacitor which can be a substitute for this ultra-high ripple current nichicon capacitor.
So I replaced it with samxon and rubycon's general capacitor(GP,YXA series).
I know that these capacitor will not last as long as nichicon capacitor...
