    Samsung LE40A656A1F

    Hi All

Got givern this TV as a scrapper. Had a quick look anf found 2 100MFD caps on the power PCB bulging. Changed the caps and the set started up. Took a look at the picture just a mass of verticle coloured lines. First thought TCON board or the LCD panel no good. As I was thinking about this the top third of the screen started to show a normal picture. After a few more minuits the normal picture extended to half way. Kept watching but nothing else happened just a normal picture in the top half and a mass of verticle coloured lines in the bottom half.
Still thinking panel or Tcon board faulty turned the set to stand by. Switched it on again and was rewarded with a full normal picture. Now more convinced I got a replacement Tcon board. Result, I thought as soon as I turned on full picture.

Not so the next day when I tried the set same symtems as before. Switch on just a mass of coloured verticle lines. After 3 or 4 minuits top third of picture appears then half a picture. Restart set full normal pictuer appears.

Never seen this fault before. Have any of you experts got any ideas before I condem it as having a faulty LCD panel.

Any help or ideas would be much appreciated.

    Regards Dave

It could be that the other caps are also bad, replace them too. without a board number or picture I am only guessing
Caps are often bad without bulging or leaking.

Yes, for sure, changing only that 2 caps is a very limited action, replace all the rest with good brands, except the biggest one 450v.

          Hi All

This set is giving me some grief. Just about ready to throe it in the bin.

Changed all the caps om the power supply as you all sugested. Plugged it in. The fan starts up and runs for 5 seconds then slows down and keeps repeating this sequence with the standby light flashing. Thought I had put in a bad new cap so slowly changed each one back to the original ones. Still the same result as I have just discribed.

Just about at my whits end with this set. Any ideas of either what I've done wrong or what else to try?

          Dave

A capacitor replacing work can't get worse, so the replacing work is not done correctly.

Looks as though you have exactly the same fault as I have here. If I switch on and quickly toggle through the Source using the remote then occasionally I'm lucky and get a normal picture after a few changes.
Unfortunately it does appear to be a panel fault.
Willing to help but I'm no expert.

Samsung TV model UE50TU: rebooting, backlight, sound, but no picture
                by TR103
                Hi, I have a Samsung UE50TU with:
                - sound and backlight, but no picture
                - when it arrived, it had a picture for a few seconds
                - it keeps rebooting
                - without ribbon cable between the two panel boards, it does not reboot but I have no picture
                - without cable between mainboard and lcd panel, it does not reboot (but obviously i have no picture)
                - when i try a tape fix, its keeps rebooting, unless I tape off pin 1 (the innermost pin). In that case it does not reboot but I have no picture.

                - without cable between mainboard and lcd panel and with a jumpered...

SAMSUNG UN55KS9000F picture fades then distorts into vertical lines after 20 seconds
                by JJAAMM
This was my main TV for the last 6 years. I'm not inclined to throw out a $2600 TV so quickly so I'm trying to investigate the issue.

                Problem
TV was disconnected from power for 6 months during construction. When I plugged it yesterday picture was fine, after 30 seconds it dimmed then started developing horizontal lines, picture then starts to ghost vertically until it degrades into vertical streaks. TV always displays a perfect picture when cold. I can unplug TV for 5 minutes and plug it back in and picture is restored for 20 seconds. I can also keep it in standby mode...

Samsung UN60EH6000F Black Screen, Backlight and Sound Good. Power Cycle Returns Picture
                by Mgiffune
I have a 60 inch Samsung UN60EH6000F flatscreen TV. The screen went black a few months ago Sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. I replaced the TCon board with a used board purchased from Ebay. It worked fine for a 3-4 months, then the screen started ‘fading' back. Once again, sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. However, this time the picture looks fine for about 10-15 minutes, then fades back. If I power cycle the TV, the display reappears, for another 10-15 minutes, then fades black again. Repeatable ever time.

I ordered a supposedly ‘new' Tcon board this time, and

                Hello all,

This is my first post, but long term lurker on the form learning as much as possible about these TV's. I was given this TV as due to a power outage of constant On/off of power to TV. The TV originally would just click on and off (Typical Reboot Cycle). I opened the back of the TV, and troubleshooted by taking the 96 pin LVDS off one at a time to see if I had a picture on either side. I finally fixed the reboot cycle by finding the error on the left side of the screen off connector CN 1301, and the TV would stay on. Further troubleshooting led me to the driver boards where...
