Nice Samsung UN50H6203AF Bad Tab Bond Board

Got a nice Sammy UN50 SMART TV with the right Tab Bond board (at least, what I call "Tab Bond Boards".. Dunno the official name for them) bad...

I can confirm that the TCON is good. In the pictured TCON, 3 blue LEDs come on when the right connector of the TCON is not hooked up.. The half that IS hooked up gives me a perfect display

When the right connector IS hooked up, the marked Blue LED slightly flashes blue and then goes out and I get no display, just backlights.

Normally, with a Tab Bond board problem I would just treat it as a broken panel and gut the TV for parts and LEDs.. But this one is really nice and the actual tabs don't seem to be messed up and there are no obvious burns or blows. So I am hoping that it's simply a bad component that can be run down and replaced...

    Any ideas???

      HOLY CRAP!!!!

Read thru the link, part of which referred me to this youtube video

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T8Vu...ature=youtu.be

The suggestion was to cut the microtraces on the left most tab.. I thought that it was crazy but figured what the hell..

My plan was to cut a single trace at a time.. Being ham-handed as I am I probably ended up cutting at least 2 at a time..

But, after the third cut, holy crap it worked!!! The full display came on and there doesn't seem to be any obvious consequences. No lines in the screen or anything..

      Never would have thunked it..

Thanx for the link Neil!! VERY much appreciated..

My solution was to block the connections on the ribbon connector with scotch tape. Easier than cutting the flex.
