    LG 42LA620V Backlight Voltage Help

Hi, I have an LG 42LA620V with a backlight issue, when powered on the logo flashes up briefly then screen goes off, sound still present. I am trying to diagnose whether its the LEDs or the board, could anyone tell me what the voltage output from LED+ etc from the board should be please?

    Thanks in advance

In a darkened room with an input so you hear the audio flash atorch light on the screen and see if you can make out the faint image. As with most of the LGs we are seeing it is a backlight issue as they set the backlight level to 100 and overdrive the LEDs causing premature failure.

Hi, thanks fpr your reply, sorry I should have mentioned I have already done flashlight test and screen is visable, just need to determine now if its the board or the LED strips at fault, amd was wanting to know the voltages to test the board before I have to remove the screen to test LEDs

Voltage tests will help us to determine your issue. We need the voltage at start-up and when it settles with the RED probe on the +ve LED connector pin and the BLACK on chassis GND and the voltage at start-up and when it settles with the RED probe 0n the -ve LED connector pin and the BLACK on chassis GND.

OK. Your readings indicate bad LEDs. Do you know how to tear the Panel down to the LEDs to replace them?

Hi, I stripped TV down today and tested strips, there was 1 bulb out on an R2 strip, and there was another Full R2 strip out, and a full L2 strip out, have ordered parts and awaiting delivery.

Ive also picked up a 42" panasonic today that keeps doing a self check, I will start a new thread regarding this.

                    Hello,
you do yourself a favor, when you change all the strips in this case.
As I read your lines, I think it was your idea also.
A few weeks ago I had to replace the whole backlight module in an LG Tv, because only 1! led survived the following disaster:

Interesting fact: in this tv they didn't use their own screen, it was something Heesung or similar. Yet another evidence on using the LED backlight on 100% 24/7.

                    Cheers, Janos

I have found from previous experience that if you have to change LEDs and strips that you should not just change the bad one/s alone. I will recommend changing ALL of them so that when it works after a few months you do not get a repeat failure of LEDs.

                        by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                        Assuming...

                        by hollox123
Hello, I have an "ASUS ROG Strix G713QR" laptop, and for approx. 3 months I have the following problems:

                        1. Laptop keyboard doesn't work
                        2. The backlight on the laptop keyboard doesn't work
                        3. The x2 side LEDs (red) on the laptop don't work

The power button works, the touchpad works, and all the USB, HDMI, Ethernet, etc. ports work.

I already tried to reinstall all the drivers and reinstall Windows. So I don't know what to try anymore that is software-related.

But I am strongly aiming that it is somehow a BIOS-related problem,...

Panasonic LED TV TC-40A420U - Replaced Backlight LEDs but now no image/display or garbled
                        by signal.quest
I have a Panasonic LED TV TC-40A420U. The TV was given to me as an attempt to fix or throw out. I replaced the Backlight LEDs and now the screen lights up, but there is no image/display. If I play with the up/down buttons I can get the display to change from black to garbled. I can't get sound from HDMI but not sure of what input is selected. I have no remote control. When I connect a laptop to the HDMI ports it recognizes a Panasonic TV for display and sound output but I can't see or hear anything through the TV. This makes me think the mainboard is OK, but not sure if mainboard can...

                        by tmhobadcap
I got the TV from a friend. He claims that no image but sound from the TV.
I confirmed that when shine a flashlight on to the screen, I can see the image. And this should be backlight problem.
I open up the TV and found a few leds failed. And now I am ordering a new set of backlight strips for it.

But there is something that I do not understand when checking the leds. I do not have an led tester. I only use a bench power supply. I first set the voltage to 3V and current to 10mA. I could not light up the led until I increase the voltage to 12V. I understand most...
