    Pioneer PDP-6020FD 3 Red Blinks

    Hi Everyone,
I came across this set and wanted to give it a try. Of course, I'm getting a 3 red blink code which does not have much info to reference on the web. I'm thinking this is not one of the common failures of this model. I did find the service manual, and looked through to find what direction I should be looking. I do have a couple questions I'm hoping someone can point me in a better direction. The 3 blink indicates a scan failure. This could be scan ICs, y drive assembly, or x drive assembly.
How can I narrow my search regarding these boards? What are some key tests that I could do to pinpoint possibly failures? Any voltage test that will confirm any particular failures? Any place to test for shorts?
Does this set have a “trap switch” that needs to be disengaged when the back is off?
I've heard good things about this model TV and would like to bring this beast back to life! Thanks for any help! (Sorry about the pic quality)

    Update:
I tried testing the unit by checking vsus and vdar. I got 208v on vsus and 74.7v on vdar. I did the same tests with y drive disconnected and x drive disconnected. Both test ended with voltages coming up and a 3 red blink occurred after relay click and power down. So, no change noticed by any board getting disconnected.
I reviewed the scan ic's multiple times and did finally see a damaged ic. (Photo below) ic is circled in red. Some of the traces I tested do read shorted.
These “buffers” are bonded to the panel and cannot be removed, so the ic would need to be change while board is in the set.
Anyone know what would have cause this ic to blow? Really, my question is do I need to fear this same ic blowing after replacement?
Can this set be fired up with the ic removed to confirm all other operations will function, or will it just go into shutdown?
What is a good “silicone” to cover the new part with once replaced?

Anyone know a good source for the ic? Panasonic AN16184A. I see one seller on eBay for about $22.
These ic's don't appear to be soldered under the chip, just the pins are soldered. So I think my strategy will be to clip the current ic's pins off then solder wick them out of the way. The only hot air unit I have is a heat gun. I could purchase more of a “fine tip” for this if I change strategies.
Suggestions are welcome if your seeing any red flags with my approach.
    Thanks.

Re: Pioneer PDP-6020FD 3 Red Blinks

I have finally received and installed the new scan ic. Unfortunately, when I was removing the shorted one, I lifted some of the traces off the board. I tried bridging those missing traces with a copper wire to the new ic and thought it was successful. When I fired it up tonight, it did turn on! Whew! But, I have a horizontal line about 2” thick across the screen. Clearly the ic I replaced location.
Is this something that can be remedied? I figured if anything I might have a row of pixels that wouldn't fire, not the entire ic section. The screen looks great besides this strip. Any suggestions are welcome.

How many scan ic's are there in this set ? Trying to figure out if that smallish section of screen is driven by one IC or not. If not then you have some floating pins that need soldering.

This set has 16 ICs. The area that isn't working is within range of the IC that was replaced. I know I have 2 pins that are floating because I'm struggling to figure out where I can attach them. The photo below shows one pin. I attempted to remove the surface of the dark green area that it appeared to be attached to but there was no copper underneath. Should I try and just find a common ground or should I try and look under the board for a trace?

If you look at the other ic's regarding those 2 pins, maybe they will give you an idea as to where they go.
