Vizio e701i-a3 Fixed completely unresponsive set

My first post, hoping this experience will help someone.

On Christmas morning my Vizio e701-a3 which I've owned for ~2 years died (thanks Santa). I bought a used set that was manufactured in Oct of 2015 if I recall correctly.

    Symptoms:
    - Random, infrequent shutdowns (few times a year) since ownership
    - No popping noise or warning whatsoever, it simply shuts off
    - Would normally turn back on after several tries
    - Completely unresponsive. No picture, sound, backlight or LED indicator

    Troubleshooting:
    - Suspected power board. Checked mains connection on board. PASS
    - Checked main fuse for continuity. PASS
    - Checked output terminals connecting to mainboard for voltage. PASS
    - Power board OK. Suspect mainboard.
    - Ordered mainboard from ebay for ~$100 CAD shipped and installed. FIXED!

I was really hoping it would be something simple (and cheap) like a blown fuse or cap. But, as you can see, what appeared to be a power supply issue turned out to be a mainboard problem.
My electronics knowledge is limited so I didn't troubleshoot the components on the mainboard. I decided if replacing it didn't work it was time for an upgrade. Guess I'll be holding off a while longer for 4K

That was likely a BGA solder failure of the main processor. Not something easily repairable without good tools and a steady hand. Still, $100 for a replacement mainboard, not a bad price. Congrats.

    A working TV? How boring!

Thanks! I haggled him down a few bucks using ebay's "make an offer" button

Vizio M65Q7-H1 Red Vertical Strips fixed by tape blocking LC1 signal to half of the panel

        Failure Symptom

No picture, just red vertical stripes. Google search shows quite common problem for these recent Vizio M series although red vertical stripe pattern may differ. Some call it "Netflix" boot screen haha.

        Where is the short?

Panel has 4x buffer boards. Quickly found the 1/4 panel buffer board with the problem by selectively disconnecting buffer board flex cables.

Having recently fixed another Vizio with similar symptoms that was a shorted ESD diode array ( link ) Probed the ESD diode array but...

VIZIO M60-C3 Can the vertical line be fixed?
        by tmhobadcap
I am trying to help my friend to fix his Vizio tv with a vertical line on the screen. The line is on the right side. It is blue/purple on the right side starting from the top. But it only goes to about 3/4 of the screen height (not to the bottom of the screen). It is very obvious when the screen is dark and it is hard to be seen when the screen is bright. Please help....

        Vizio M65-C1
        by mrtek
        Hi.

picked up another TV. This time is a Vizio M65-C1. TV does not turn on. I had repaired another 60 inch vizio , Bad main board.
When power button is pressed, the Power led indicator on the bottom right, turns for a few seconds and then it fades away. No backlight or Vizio logo on screen. Removed back cover and repeated test.
This is the TV This TV is a little different from the Samsung I have worked on. Power supply is on the Left side, Main Bd is on the right side, T-CON , not in the picture is on the bottom. I am assuming that the boards in the middle are the LED...

Vizio M70-C3, P602ui-B3, M80-C3,... Anyone fixed the main board?
        by jason123
        Hi folks,
I'm seeing more and more of the P602ui-B3, M70-C3,... coming in with the same symptom: TV appears to turn on (front LED activity, fades off), but no picture, backlight or..

Replacement of the main board has fixed every one of these. These boards are becoming more and more expensive. boards warm up (heatsink fairly warm / hot)

The common issue is if you monitor a USB board connected to this main board, or the Optical Audio red light, i consistently seems to be rebooting after almost exactly 60 seconds (red Audio LED, and front LED go off, then back...

        ViZIO M70-D3 Completely Dead (Weird!)
        by goofykao@yahoo.com
Hi, Just joined this forum hoping to fix this TV.

Sorry for the long post to explain the problem in details.

Model: VIZIO M70-D3, 4 years old

What happened: TV had no issue at all and one day just died (4 weeks ago) and NO LED stand-by light (usually it's Red at bottom left front side)

Current status: Cannot power on and NO LED stand-by light

Strategy: Since I am not good at fixing boards at component level, it's better for me to just replace boards with known good ones
