    Samsung UE46D6510, Horizontal Lines

    Hey,
I got this Samsung TV for free.
It has some thin horizontal lines on the top 3/4 of the picture.
I think the panel is bad, what do you think? Is it repairable? The T-Con board is ok.

    Thanks

I have disconnected the left panel side from T-Con board.
Now the right side of the picture is normal, clear picture without lines. The left side is black. Maybe it is a panel driver fault.

Yes. The left side has a short in the gate driving section of the lcd panel itself. There's no real repair for this except possibly the scotch tape method where you cover up a few pins on the ribbon on the left until both sides look good. You will have to find out where you can place the tape to achieve this. It sounds silly but it actually works.

turn off tv first. place tape over a few pins reseat cable and turn on if it doesn't look right turn off TV again before removing cable

Thanks. I found the gate signal pins on the tcon and covered them up.

Now the whole screen works, but there is a thin colored line left.
The line starts at the damaged side of the panel and fades down after about the half screen. At the opposite of the panel the colors are fine.

What you're seeing is the original short that's causing the problem. If it's a vertical line, That cannot be cleared up unfortunately. That's a source COF failure. Maybe upload a picture of the line that you see?

Here is a picture of the current state of the TV.
The line is very annoying because I've come this far.
The line also does not go through the whole picture.

Yes that line is the original root of your problem the panel in the left hand gate driver side is manipulating that fault along every scan line Because it is a short circuit. What you did was allow the tcon to apply the voltage equally ignoring the short. You could try a little heat in that area to see of the line disappears. But you need to do this with the frame off the LCD screen and do not apply too much heat. Although this is not going to alleviate the problem it will alleviate the short in the panel temporarily. In the past I have taken a ryobi grinder slightly ground that section of the panel before you hit the actual liquid crystal. This is not advisable. in the past I have had success with doing that surprisingly

I applied heat to the area until the pixels got a little brighter. But this has not affected the line. Or should I do this when the TV is unplugged? How much heat?

Do you have photos of your grinded section of the panel? Since I can“t use the TV with this line I would even try this.

If you strip the frame down do you have side gate drivers on the side where the line is?

What you have done? Sorry don't understand... A drill with a grinder tip? To grind what?

                    To the OP:
There's another method, is a non return mode, strip out all the driver tabs at the faulty side, there's maybe one of them with a short at one output.
                    other methods:
1-[never tested] Read the native vertical resolution and divide for the number of vert. tabs, now draw with pc an image not jpeg with same resolution of the screen and a graduation with quotes at the sides, connect pc to tv to show the pic, now calculate the line number of the fault, subtract the lines associated to other tabs, starting from the screen side with the horiz. tabs (line 0), with a magnifying glass cut approxim. the output lines of the driver tab with the faulty one.
2-With the screen bezel removed, locate vcc (3,3v) on the panel's board that goes to left faulty side of tabs,
the line must run on the leftmost horiz. tab without entering the chip, then cut it.

                      Hi guys

I just started fixing 4k TV few months ago. so I am still learning a lot
I got this tv from friend complaint is ghosting or horizontal lines on image.

never saw the original symptom but I took the tv back home. the funny part is that after bringing to home, the tv worked fine no issue for 3 weeks.
then it started to show the ghosting white image.
I started using the tape method, but this tv does not have a T con board and it has only 1 ribbon cable from main board to the tv panel.
it has 3 thin small boards at the bottom of the...

Samsung UE70TU7020K Which lines to tape on a bad panel
                      by learnmore
                      Hello Community,

                      I'm working on a Samsung UE70TU7020K.

It looks like a bad panel. There is only 1 FPC cable from the Tcon (built into mainboard) to the panel.

I'm using a piece of tap a few mils (covers about 8-10 pins), at different locations and have had varying results but nothing that is remotely watchable (multiple lines across all the screen, half screen and total black out on screen). The buffer board is divided into 3 boards. I've disconnected the end board one at a time but each time the screen was totally black. I presume it's because the potential...

I posted about this previously but didn't get any response, and I have some troubleshooted a bit so I have more info.

The screen is full of horizontal "gaps" or lines that distort the picture badly, and after about 10 seconds of powering it on the screen starts to fill with red vertical bars that take on the horizontal pattern. After the screen filled with the red bars, they instantly vanished and then slowly started to reappear. I initially thought it was tab bonding failure, but after getting down to them and pressing each one I find zero change in the picture. I went...

I just acquired this 3D LED yesterday and it has horizontal lines on a little more than half of the screen. When I first turn it on it has thin black lines going across that makes the image look serrated, and then shortly after patterns of thicker red lines fade in. If I turn it off and right back on it will reset to just the black lines and the red will again fade onto the screen.

I initially thought tab bonds, but flexing the bezel makes no difference, and the fact the image sort of resets after cycling power is different. I haven't opened it up yet to actually test applying...

Less than a year out of warranty, samsung UE49MU6105K craps out, they've got this designed obsolescence down to an exact science of self destruct when out of warranty...

Screen started to show horizontal lines and ghosted image at the bottom, then turned off by itself. Did software update, to no avail of the line problem, and got a boot loop after some minutes of watching TV. This boot loop will turn on the backlights for some seconds the sound comes on, the image will turn dark very fast and then it reboots again. Pressing power button will not put it on standby. Disconnecting...
