Picture disappears after minutes Hitatchi 42PD3200

Game monitor. Green snow/haze issue since getting it, but worked acceptable for few years. Then it got worse, tweaked voltages and works fine again and mounted it on a stand with wheels, but no sound so had to go through the issue of taking it off (2 person job), find that I forgot to hook up soundamplifier PCB and remount it (3 person job).

But now it developed a new issue: it works fine, but after a few minutes, the screen goes black.
I am pretty sure the on-screen volume control does not show either, but the sound still does work (so it does not go into some protection mode).

Questions: when googling "plasma picture goes dark" it keeps mentioning shining with a torch to see if it still has some (dark) picture showing but without the back-light being ON, but plasma's don't have a back-light, correct?
Other likely culprits (again, according to google) are capacitors on the power supplies, but Tom66 mentions in his repairthread that it is not likely a powersupply fault if you still have sound.
He does mention "if you have sound and the TV will respond normally - then it's likely a Y-sustain or Z-sustain fault." But I am not sure what would cause it to function normally for a while before going into 'errormode', so I was hoping this would trigger some great ideas on where to look from you lot before having to take it down again...

    Thanks!

Is the time to picture off from cold consistent if so perhaps warm up triggers the problem. Also switch off just for a few seconds and back on and what happens?

We decommissioned it because it displayed the failure-mode (=going black) on about 4 separate occasions on two different days.

I just played on it for 15 minutes and it won't go black whereas before it would do so within 5 minutes.

I will remove the temporary 26" in front of it and make it the main gaming monitor again. It will undoubtedly fail again once the kids go play on it in the not too distant future and I will answer your questions then. Thank you for now for taking an interest!

BTW: when getting it because it was 'broken' years ago, Google told me Plasma's Always overheat so I added a load of fans on the internal heatsinks and they are always running. I just turned them off but still no failure mode.

Samsung TV model UE50TU: rebooting, backlight, sound, but no picture
        by TR103
        Hi, I have a Samsung UE50TU with:
        - sound and backlight, but no picture
        - when it arrived, it had a picture for a few seconds
        - it keeps rebooting
        - without ribbon cable between the two panel boards, it does not reboot but I have no picture
        - without cable between mainboard and lcd panel, it does not reboot (but obviously i have no picture)
        - when i try a tape fix, its keeps rebooting, unless I tape off pin 1 (the innermost pin). In that case it does not reboot but I have no picture.

        - without cable between mainboard and lcd panel and with a jumpered...

Samsung UE60KU6079 backlight okay mainboard responsive, no picture, no sound
        by Ierwin
        Hello everyone,
Ive got a UE60KU6079 on the workbench that is giving me some headaches trying to troubleshoot.
The previous owner stated that there had been white dots on the screen which from the description sounded like some lenses fell of the backlight LEDs.
He had opened the TV from the back, trying to get to the backlight, supposedly gave up, reassebled everything and gave the TV to me.
I expected the worst like ripped COF cables or a cracked panel but could not find anything like that yet.
Anyway I still fully expect that there has been something seriously damaged...

Samsung UN70NU6900F no picture and no sound
        by jchang
        Hi all

I was just given a Samsung TV with the issue. I read various threads and videos and attempted the ribbon tape method to gain an image, but no luck.

        Symptom:
        No picture no sound.
When I plug in the power cord, Backlight LED turns on for a half second and then turns off. The red LED next to the power button located center bottom flashes 2 or 3 times. When the power button is pressed after, it does the same thing.
        No sound at all.

        What I tried:
        1. I tried unplugging the left or right ribbon...

        by ChaosLegionnaire
so i took out one of my spare gigabyte ep35-ds3r mobos from storage for use to do some cpu, ram and video card testing of stuff i bought from ebay and got for free from momaka. he bought 50 e8400 cpus for cheap from ebay some years ago and i decided to help him relieve him of some of his supply since he had waaaay too many!! what did we say about hoarding too much stuff and depriving others of them?! *cough* socialism *cough* lol!

i had to blow some dust off the board and heatsinks with the datavac as i didnt clean it up before putting it in storage. after finishing...

Samsung QN75Q6DRA, No Picture, Has BL, and Sound
        by Dodgethis
        Hello all,

This is my first post, but long term lurker on the form learning as much as possible about these TV's. I was given this TV as due to a power outage of constant On/off of power to TV. The TV originally would just click on and off (Typical Reboot Cycle). I opened the back of the TV, and troubleshooted by taking the 96 pin LVDS off one at a time to see if I had a picture on either side. I finally fixed the reboot cycle by finding the error on the left side of the screen off connector CN 1301, and the TV would stay on. Further troubleshooting led me to the driver boards where...
