great... what's even better is what ever you did dealing with the side tab which did "nothing" if I read your before and after (ie. put connection back) now works, so it appears you never had any tab issues at any location. hmmmm, I am thinking... maybe.

Well, you think that i have solved? NOT! I'm not the usual moral low tech that put a drop of tin on the cap to short it and sells the tv "without warranties"..
i have to find why tcon doesn't boot ok and then test it again and again..
      the cap is this:

PS: it's possible that faulty side side tab will begin again to do the "stupid"...

        "stupid side tabs"... :-))))

Yep... as reported with lots of others, sometimes people have sets go for a good period of time (hours / days) before "stupid" shows up again. Anyways, who knows, your work on the 3.3v are may have heated up some marginal point enough that it is now "stable" for the time being. It could be that simple.

further... maybe that cap is marginal and not provide "good AC path" to ground.

            Re: Sony LED KDL-60EX700

I was just saying that if the cap was not very good, normally caps are providing an AC path to somewhere and blocking DC. If you are shorting it and things work, maybe the cap isn't quite right... either not conducting at all and not conducting at the frequency that its meant for. Although your picture is not very clear, it appears that the cap is going toward a large conduction area... either ground or power.

There's no Alternated Current here.. The cap function as a timer, when UVP or OVP or thermal problem are detected the chip starts charging this cap, if the warning situation still persist until this cap reaches 1,2v then all the supplies stops. I have tested that cap with 2 meters, with one i get Over Limit (!!) and with another (that tests bigger caps) i get no measure, i'm starting to wonder if this is bad, but why and how can i replace it, on the D.sheet i see the formula to size it, it's a sin that i don't know the "time" variable that the chip is right to count, here is where a good scope comes handy.. i can only get some by old boards, test them and try them at turn..

                Re: Sony LED KDL-60EX700

By "AC", I meant "NOT DC" meaning even a "waveform signal" of some frequency.... not knowing anything about the subtending chip or pin it is connected to.

But you know more, so look at this from another form, you shorted it and things work so from my point of view that means you want something with a relatively high capacitance that takes much to charge.

"Not DC" AND "Not AC"=zero volt, you mean "DC pulsed signal" for me...

It was too much easy to replace the SCP cap and good night at the singers, in fact i've done it , the original measured 10nF that means for me 0,12sec (120msec) for the UVP 0,24sec for OVP/thermal, the example near the formula in the d.s. for me is wrong, it says 1,2x10^6xCap(F?), 1,2x10000000=12000000x0,00000001F(10nF)=0,12=120msec.
I changed with a 95nF (the less i have) but tv doesn't switch on.

Little UPDATE: i've tried to enter the service mode after switching tv on with the short and then switching off with remote, i have used the wrong combination for error and tv switched on normally without the short, i have tried many times to switch on and off and succesfully done, after i have entered the right way the SM ([DISPLAY] is the key with "i+" not other i used) then i have done the sequence to reset to defaults, don't know if suceeded, then i have tried to enter the diagnostic screen and tv no more starts, have tried with the short and nothing, then i have noticed the new capcitor have detached by the pcb!!..
Will update soon after new cap replacement.

Update: soldered new capacitor same capacity 10nF, tv doesn't power on regularily, need short, tried succesfully SW upgrade, not fixed, done reset by Srv menu, nothing new, since there is a serial flash on the tcon, maybe there is a processor and a firmware and on the eeprom it stores a fault flag that must be erased in some way, well i don't have read all the Service manual but this is also a few possible chance.

But with the capacitor shorted you do get a good picture After power up?
Did I leave the soldering iron on?

Always good picture, runned for about 2 hours total, now i have entered the "Diagnostic screen" (is a service operation), where it lists all the fault codes in the memory queue, there was 3 errors, one old, 2 more recent "tcon error" and "wrong panel id", so i'm suspecting for some reason main board encountered a panel id mismatch, this Sony chassis seem different by usual LCD tvs, first of all in common LCD desgins like Samsung ones, when a bad panel id is memorized in settings rom the only result can be a bad display, but here it seems that by the comm. with tcon, this says to mainboard something that identify the panel type and if there's a mismatch mainboard refuse to finish boot and shuts off.. now the big problem is that Service menu by Sony is very very criptyc compared to those of Samsung, and i can't find Panel ID field, very bad by Sony!...

I have searched throught the service manual and menu but there's no reference to panel id change, when i acces to diagnostic screen and delete the list, then let the tv go in error (remove the short) the new time i go into diag screen i see only error P_ID_ERR (panel id error?), i don't understand the mechanism of that, if i let the tv normal it doesn't powerup for that error, if i force the tcon supply to be on why the mainboard boots up? Where is the panel id error so? Is that a consequence of a failing power stage? I.E. tcon doesn't boot and then don't communicate an acknowledgement for a panel identification by the mainboard? How can be bad a power stage of a tcon that with error protection bypass removed soon after the boot gone ok, doesn't go into protection soon after (all tensions normal)? This TV drives me mad! And if the THine chip have a problem with the Power Good output signals? The THIne boots up but an abnormal PG signal is send back to mainboard, mainboard remove 12V-Tcon so a subsequent control for panel id by the ma.bo. fails.. ?

Sony oddly have removed or hidden or whatever the Sharp sticker, i can see the model number only from the service menu, if i remember is LK600D3..... tomorrow i will watch, what do you have in mind? There are 2 Power good signals available on this chip, but it seems only one is used and is connected do the dc-dc that supply 1,2v, this supplies one of the 2 bigger chips.

EDIT: LK600D3LA5S, i have found datasheet and found some info inside on Panel ID, thanks Budm..!

I am looking to see if there is error signal pin on the T-CON to tell the main board if it is OK or not or something like that and what kind of error signal it is.

I think i have solved and i hope. It seems that the internal current generator that charges the SCP cap flowes more current than the expected, first i have put a trimmer in series with the 10nF cap but it dont worked, then i've tried a bigger cap to draw the excess current that enters the internal comparator and makes the threshold level to arrive too soon, a final 100nF worked ok and the faults protection still works because i have put a resistor in parallel to the voltage divider of the invertin input for the Avdd feedback , the image freezes and after som sec. tv shuts off. Then i can turn on again without flaw. This repair anyway is wrapped of mistery...
