Vizio D50u-D1 backlight issues (Please Help if you can)

I've been having issues with the backlights failing on this particular model. When these backlights fail (one backlight failure on a strip), the srip will start flashing on and off. I will replace the individual backlights that are defective, test for a day or two, then sell it, only to have it come back within a few weeks with another failed backlight. Is this model known for this backlight issue and is there a fix for it. These particular models keep coming back for the same problem. Thanks in advance for any help offered.

Has anyone else had these problems with the Vizio D50u-D1? Is this a common problem with this model and is there a fix for it? Thanks in advance.

Did you turn down the Backlight level after replacing the LED? Also, some times it is better to replace the entire strip if you are getting repeated failure. Most likely it would be other LEDs on the same strip that failed.

Just saw your reply, Andrew. Thanks for your help. Actually I have turned down the backlight level on each tv I replace the individual LED's in but that doesn't seem to help. I just recently started to replace all LED strips in these particular models. For some reason, the backlights seem to fail prematurely in this model. I have many other model Vizio's that don't have any backlight issues, just this particular model. I was wondering if this is a known problem with this model. Thank you for your help!

I find Vizio in general suffer from backlight problems. I modify power supply on Vizio. Just adjusting backlights will not really help if you give it to someone else and you cannot control what they do. I have measured current to backlights. And it measures around 430ma at full brightness. Max ratings seem to be about 350ma on these led's. I haven't measured current on other makes that don't suffer led failure. Reducing max. current to around 280-300ma makes me more confident that led's will last.
I assume no responsibility for any stupid suggestions I might post.

Thank you dskall for your help. Would you consider sharing your modification with me in detail (step by step)? I would be so appreciative.

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
                by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                Assuming...

Vizio M70-D3 4K with dark spots backlight issue
                by Yanleb
I have a Vizio M70-D3 4K with a dark spots backlight issue. It is using the Y8387248A backlight driver board.

On this model each of the 64 transistor powers 2 LEDs. Using my TKDMR TD3H backlight tester I've determined that the backlight LED strips were the issue, and the backlight driver board was just fine. Some LED pairs required 5.9 volt at 155mA, some required 9.5 volt and some were completely open.

I've removed the LCD panel and once the LED strips were exposed I've tested them again by connecting my LED tester directly on the test pads. To my surprise all, I've...

                Vizio-D50u-D1 Pulsating Backlights
                by csmith
This Vizio came in the shop with no backlights. Replaced all the strips with replacement from Shop Jimmy. Set now has backlights but lights pulsate on left side. Half the screen brightens up then goes to normal then repeats.
Am I looking at a defective strip? Thanks in advance.

Vizio E55-F1 dark backlight zones. LED failure or Dimming Zone Driver?
                by howardc64
                Problem

Fixing a dimming zone TV with LEDs not lighting up. Dimming zone circuit introduces added variable to diagnose LED and/or Dimming Zone Driver board? Some 1/2 rows of LEDs appears to be out in active dimming zone off AND some brightness flickering with active dimming zone high while playing changing video

                Model & Board Pics

                Conflicting Spec

Vizio indicate this TV has 10 dimming zones. However, LED strips and Zoned light driver connector suggest 12

Vizio D32f-E1 Powers on, has backlight, won't boot/no logo, no menu or video
                by JaquesPratt
I have a Vizio D32f-E1 LCD TV that does NOT have a TCON board.

This TV recently went through some 'death throes' and now won't boot. The first problem that began to manifest was while watching tv, the screen would 'freeze', and the image would dim over a few seconds until it was very dark. HOWEVER, the audio of the show would continue as normal. I could power off the TV for 5-20 seconds, power back on, and the video would be normal. This would occur 1-3 times when the TV was first started, and would not happen again after the TV was 'warmed up'. Not ideal, but this glitch was manageable....
