    Pana Plasma TH42PX60U has 20 blinks no pic or sound?

    This plasma was given to me, and initially threw a blink code 11 which is a fan fault. Well, the layer of dust everywhere was pretty obvious. So I cleaned up fans, boards and chassis and was rewarded with a working TV. While open and outside the house, it scanned for and found channels, had picture and sound.

    Buttoned it up and brought it inside. The next time I tried to use it, it powered on with no sound or picture. Standby light is off when off, and red when on. It powers on/off by remote. When turned off, it starts a twenty-blink sequence. SOS20 is not even listed in the service manual!

    One would assume something left disconnected, right? Today I opened it and searched in vain for anything out of place. The boards are populated with Nichicon caps which all look good.

    Left it on, probed VSUS, Ve, and all sub-voltage test points on the PA board listed in the SM, and every last one reads in spec. So I'm puzzled.

    Has this symptom been seen on any Panasonic plasmas? The set is a 2006 Gen 9 chassis.

      I did some troubleshooting per the 42PX60 training manual.
      VSUS 196
      VSCN 36
      VDA 76
      BT30V 30
      VE 166
      VSET2 -87

      All voltages generated by the P board are present, as well as those on the PA board.
      The troubleshooting flowchart leads me to a bad P board, due to the absence of the relay click when the TV is turned on.
      But the same circuit makes VSUS and VDA, which are good.

      Should I replace the P board anyway?

          Sorry not a plasma guy. If you have all voltages then power supply is good if voltages don't drop under load. Do you get flash on screen when you turn it on? Does guide tell you how to bring up test pattern?
          I assume no responsibility for any stupid suggestions I might post.

              I do see a momentary "flash" in one corner just as the screen brightens up. No sign of a menu with a flashlight, though.

                  Plasma panels generate their own light so you will see nothing with flashlight. If screen brightens up then you need to see how to bring up test patterns.

                          i had to blow some dust off the board and heatsinks with the datavac as i didnt clean it up before putting it in storage. after finishing...

                          Hello all ~

                          I’m working on this Samsung 60” LED and purchased a new main board a couple of days ago that did not fix the 5 blink issue. The original main board’s HDMI ports (all 4 of them) failed to work and no amount of reflow remedied that.

                          This 5 red light blink code on the front panel LED is followed (about 15-20 seconds afterward) by an automatic reboot, and results in 5 more red light blinks. Then the entire cycle repeats itself indefinitely.

                          No picture. No sound.

                          I tested all the voltages coming out of the power supply...

                          Hi,
                          anyone able to provide the service manual for old plasma Panasonic TX-P42ST50E?
                          It turns off almost immediately (0~5 seconds after pressing the on/off button) and starts flashing the red diode 6 times.
                          I disconnected the left-hand side board (SC?, both the ribbon cable and the power cable to it) and also another ribbon going to bottom left board. Then the led signal is 8 flashes. According to service guide to another Panasonic plasma it would mean the left-hand side board is faulty. But I'm not sure it 100% applies to my model.
                          I checked that board for any obvious faults...

                          Good day ladies and gentleman!

                          I am currently trying to repair a Grundig Vision 9 37 9880 T USB LCD TV for a friend that has a weird audio problem. Basically everything works fine except for the heavily distorted sound when the Subwoofer module is connected and there is a buzzing sound coming from the PSU PCB.

                          This seems to be a rather rare TV so there is not much prior on topic help to be found however a service manual is available at the usual sources (Electro Tanya i.e.).

                          I think the PSU buzzing comes from one of the coils near the bridge rectifier but...

                          Stopped by this site trying to fix my parents Panasonic Plasma TV.

                          Model number is TH-50PZ85U

                          Power comes on and the red power light stays on solid.

                          Did a few checks like hold the power button on for 60 seconds, hold the - Volume while holding the menu button, no luck, still@ blank grey screen as the screen lights up very vague.

                          I also hear a few clicks.

                          I also think my parents said there was a thunderstorm and the TV failed after that.

                          Section 6 in the service manual talks about power and no screen,...
