    Are individual backlight LEDs universal?

I'm working on this crummy, tiny little Jensen flatpanel with the typical bad backlights problem. Removing the panel and getting down to the backlights, I was able to confirm that there are a handful of Light-emitting diodes that can no longer light up. No surprises here.

Normally, if I run a web search or eBay search for the part number of the backlight strip (39X49-E1) or the model number of the television itself, I can find replacement backlight strips, but such is not the case this time. I do have some spare strips with good LEDs leftover from previous backlight projects, so I got to thinking about using the heatgun to remove them and install them on this television's existing strips. My question is if this a good idea. Will they fit? Are there potential differences in specification that may cause it not to work?

TL;DR? Can I take LEDs from one strip and install them onto backlight strips from a completely different television?

Sometimes yes. Some leds have 2 pads and I have seen them with 3 pads.I fixed an LG with some leds I had laying around, and it worked, but you could see the two I replaced were much brighter. They must have must have different voltages. Maybe all the other ones in that piece of crap were failing. Too much work for me, never again.

There are a miriad of different LEDs out there. I've had to aquire about 6 different types of LEDs (and I just do this as a hobby). There is the small, squarish single LED, which can have the cathode on the big pad, or the anode. There are the side mounted types that the extra thin panels use. There is the larger, rectangular model, with two diodes. I'm sure that I haven't seen all the different types. Each time I repair a backlight, I find a bad diode and using an SMD reworking setup, I remove that diode and check the pad orientation and hope that I have the correct replacement. If not, I usually head to AliExpress and try to find a matching footprint that I can purchase - they usually run 100 LEDs for $6-8 US, so not a big gamble. Once I have the proper diodes, then I replace all the bad LEDs in the strips.

          things to keep in mind,

          anode/cathode pad,

          size eg, 2835

          voltage 3/6v,

          brightness/luminosity,

          colour temp 10000/15000/20000k

          and maximum current.
WHY CAN'T PHILIPS USE PHILLIPS HEAD SCREWS?
