Friend asked me to look at this Chinese generic a cheapie marketed by local chain which went into liquidation. Set has been wall mounted outside but kept covered when not in use and prob about 4yrs old. Turns on OK in normal course and has sound just no picture and no menu or other display. There is 12v both sides tcon fuse. No obvious signs of anything wrong on combined power and main. Tcon main suspect but its lead to screen is bonded at tcon !!! That must have saved them 15c . Not really worthwhile spending much time or money on this 27.5" set as newbies only about $150/180. Just posting in case someone has experience with these.

If you had a scope you could check if the video signals were on the lvds cable or not, no video on the lvds cable would indicate a main board fault, if the signals were there it could be tcon or panel.Last edited by R_J; 10-05-2017, 09:09 PM. -

Have you checked for common voltages on t-con?
Funny I saw a t-con on ebay for one like this. I messaged the guy and asked him if he knew how to attach it to the panel. He pulled the listingLast edited by dskall; 10-05-2017, 11:12 PM.I assume no responsibility for any stupid suggestions I might post.Comment

Re: DSE GE6839. Backlight OK no picture no menus etc sound ok
Thanks for the responses. There is minor voltages going via lvds to tcon being range up to one and a bit plus of course 12v. There are 6 regulators on main board and the two with mid leg free read 7.17, 15.25, 0.20 and 0.02, 11.95, 12.01 respectively and I don't know if that's good or bad!
The other 4 which are 1117 type seem to be OK reading 1.29, 2.53, 5.19 and 0.00, 3.30, 5.19 and 6.83, 8.09, 11.95 and 0.50, 1.83, 3.30
Appreciate any comments.Comment

Re: DSE GE6839. Backlight OK no picture no menus etc sound ok
My limited experience is if you have a volt or little more on data lines they are doing something. They may possibly change a bit if you toggle menu.
T-con voltages (typical)
1. Vin (Vcc): 12Vdc or 5Vdc
2. Vlogic,LCM, Vddd,VCC): 3.3Vdc
3. Vda (Vs, Vsource,VDD, Vdda,Avdd): 14Vdc~20Vdc
4. Vgh (Vgon,VGHR, Von, Vddg): 20Vdc~30Vdc
5. Vgl (Vgoff,VST,VGHF,VGHEVEN, Voff,Veeg): -5Vdc~-7Vdc
6. HVDD about 8v
7. DVDD,VDDC 3.3v, 1.2v
8. VCOM about 5~10vdc (about half of Avdd)I assume no responsibility for any stupid suggestions I might post.Comment

by IerwinHello everyone,
Ive got a UE60KU6079 on the workbench that is giving me some headaches trying to troubleshoot.
The previous owner stated that there had been white dots on the screen which from the description sounded like some lenses fell of the backlight LEDs.
He had opened the TV from the back, trying to get to the backlight, supposedly gave up, reassebled everything and gave the TV to me.
I expected the worst like ripped COF cables or a cracked panel but could not find anything like that yet.
Anyway I still fully expect that there has been something seriously damaged... -
by triplefourthis tv is throwing me for a loop. do samsung tvs no longer have the backlight self test feature built into the power supply?
i tested the backlight with my LED tester and it lights up both strips. one of them reads 100v and the other reads 63.7v.
unplugged mainboard from power supply but left backlight plugged in, and then plugged psu wall power in. expected to see backlights light up but see nothing.
according to how ive diagnosed in the past, this would almost always be a bad power supply. replacement power supply was cheap like 20$ from ebay. but still i get not even... -
by TR103Hi, I have a Samsung UE50TU with:
- sound and backlight, but no picture
- when it arrived, it had a picture for a few seconds
- it keeps rebooting
- without ribbon cable between the two panel boards, it does not reboot but I have no picture
- without cable between mainboard and lcd panel, it does not reboot (but obviously i have no picture)
- when i try a tape fix, its keeps rebooting, unless I tape off pin 1 (the innermost pin). In that case it does not reboot but I have no picture.
- without cable between mainboard and lcd panel and with a jumpered... -
by MgiffuneI have a 60 inch Samsung UN60EH6000F flatscreen TV. The screen went black a few months ago Sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. I replaced the TCon board with a used board purchased from Ebay. It worked fine for a 3-4 months, then the screen started ‘fading' back. Once again, sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. However, this time the picture looks fine for about 10-15 minutes, then fades back. If I power cycle the TV, the display reappears, for another 10-15 minutes, then fades black again. Repeatable ever time.
I ordered a supposedly ‘new' Tcon board this time, and... -
I have a TCL 55P6US with sound and backlight but no picture. This model does not have a T-CON board, and the right (rear perspective) panel board is fed from the left panel board. I have not been able to induce any change by disconnecting the secondary panel board or the tape cut-off method on the primary board.
There are a bunch of voltages missing on the panel boards. I can't find any shorted caps of the panel boards, and all of the missing voltage rails read in the kiloohms, which leads me to suspect the issue may lie on the circuit board, rather than a short in the panel.
