    Polaroid (RCA) PL-VJ65FHDSM15 On/logo/off

Cannot find anything at all under Polaroid name model other than it is much the same as an RCA LED65G55R120Q (RE46ZN2120). Chinese generic.
The set played up for awhile then came good, then intermittent, and now turns on normally, flashes Polaroid logo, trys to continue then turns back to standby. I think ( in order) power board, main, eeprom. Owner is willing to spend the dollars to get a fix but my problem is no info for this make. Power board is ER991 rev 1.0 no other designation other than Part AE005329-20151024 these last 8 being make date I assume. Panel is T650HVN05.502
I have yet to do test on the power board. It has 18pin putting out 24v 12v 5v 5vSB PSON BKON ADJ and first up will connect 5vSB to PSON and check other voltages stabilise. Another connector is for LED + - and my experience there is almost zero. Have yet to take pics etc but ShopJimmy has good pics for the RCA models. An ongoing problem for me is to find correct parts or whatever. Meanwhile posting this for any input and if I'm on the right track?.

Would need to see pictures. Power boards on some polaroid's suffer bad caps under heat sinks
I assume no responsibility for any stupid suggestions I might post.

      Re: Polaroid (RCA) PL-VJ65FHDSM15 On/logo/off

Well got back to this large set which is at the owners house. First I checked main cap voltage was good then forced power board on alone and the voltages all came up OK so then forced backlight on and all stayed on OK. This seems to rule out power board so am now directing my attention to main which is designated CV6308H-C and all I can find about for this board is very little indeed other than appears in Goodmans a model I've not heard of and is EU UK type with scart connection.
Do not have pic of whole set setup but only other boards are FRC (frame rate?) and Tcon. I am pretty much in the dark with this job as no info at all to work with so any thoughts at all appreciated.

Maybe try freezing eeprom next to main chip and check voltages on main board.

Thanks dskall I'm having trouble identifying the eeprom as the only 8 leg ic is on the FRC board. I have got the main board with me and have just looked at the 2 regulators which are 3.3 and adj. The 3.3 (in ohms) 69. 1880. 0. and the adj 164. 410. 0. and little idea if those readings are ok but a big variation on Vout pins.

Guess they call it a nand flash. The 48 pin with red dot

Thanks again - this is a 2015 set and first time I've got past about 2011 models
Disregard last post readings as I picked up another dmm to check other regulators and got different readings!!! Picked up a 55" LG the other day where owner had thrown remote at the screen - he was a good shot - know how he felt now!!

                Re: Polaroid (RCA) PL-VJ65FHDSM15 On/logo/off

Based on history and a little experience with firmware I am still looking at power issues as I think eeprom problems see set "hang" at startup rather than turn off. Near main connector on the main board is a Samwei 470uf 16v capacitor which I will replace. Measured the regulators again by ohms to Gnd and starting with U12 adj near power connector then U19 3.3 below then U25 3.3 near tuner then the larger one U5 near lvds I recorded.....93. 254. 0459.
                0. 495. 1710
                0. 826. 1585
                0. 458. 1585
and would like some input on these readings. I do suspect the adjustable ldo as I couldn't get any reasonable voltage reading when in circuit but set was turning off within 15-20 seconds, conversely the ldo under it read correctly with just over 5v and producing 3.3v on pin2.
If it is eeprom problem have had no luck finding either a replacement board or the firmware. Only board seen of same number is a Goodmans 50" set and even if it was OK would still need firmware so catch22 for me. Have emailed supposed support for Polaroid here in Oz asking re availability of replacement main but no response as yet.

Well you can try heating/cooling board and see if you get a change
BTW I have a sanyo that turns on for about 15 sec then off. I got service manual and right at top it said if tv turns off 15-20sec after start up 80+ of the time it is a bad nand flash. So they don't necessarily hang on start up.

Yes I'd really like to have the set here with me to run various tests but I'll be away shortly for a month so have left it with owner who is in no hurry having got another large set. I understand it could well be firmware but really looking for another solution first in hope it isn't!! Got a reply a few moments ago from Polaroid so-called support "this part is not available" and this set is not quite 2 years old!!. I don't see much chance of assistance from that source.
Can anyone aid me to interpret the regulator readings?

Voltage readings would be more valuable for regulators

I replaced regulator and cap nearest power connector on main but no change. Checked regulator voltages all OK before set turns off. No time for other checks but will just have to hunt for info while I'm away.

Resurrecting this post as I have been able to get firmware file but have no idea how to reflash Nand ic. All info I find is mainly technical and PC related. Can anyone assist me with this in simple instruction?

nand ic take a more expensive programmer. I think something like this one : https://www.ebay.com/itm/302387526194

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

This TV was auto switching off after few seconds with some vertical lines on the screen, so got a new TCON board and replaced it.

After replacing the TCON board it was working fine and i set it up with everything, used for few hours, then had the bright idea to update the software on it. During the update process, TV switched off and now no audio or video. No relay switch sound.

Hey guys great forum glad to have found it. I bought a Sony XBR 65X900C cheaply because it didn't work. No signs of life at all not even a light/led. All I hear is a brief high voltage sound when I throw the power to it.

Didn't see any obvious signs of damage so right away started checking voltages. This is what I see:

I have a Panasonic TC-P54VT25 that will power on and prime the display but there is no image at all.

The panel is primed as there is a slight glow from the entire panel. This means the problem should be logic related. The service manual also confirms this and recommends replacing the A or the D board.

I have tried to get the TV to display the test sequence but I have been unable to and I don't even know if this TV has a test sequence or not.
