Re: hdmi no sound
Have your tried a factory reset? also have you tried another hdmi item as i had a set once that wouldnt play dvd sound but was fine with a sky box i ended up changing the main on the tv board in the end -
Re: hdmi no sound
Check TV Speaker setting in menu, check audio input setting as well as some TVs can be set to use digital input or only feed out digital output on some inputs.
Also try to verify digital output if present. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: hdmi no sound
There is no reason a DVI to HDMI cable cannot carry sound as before I said that it is carried on the video pairs in the blanking interval between frames. It is up to the graphics card or other peripheral as to whether it implements HDMI audio over DVI, as it is technically a non-standard feature. Technically you could even have a DVI to DVI cable where both graphics card and monitor were capable of sound, but they would be using HDMI, effectively, over a DVI cable. I'm not aware of any monitors that do this, though.
There should have been no reason your previous HDMI cable did not carry sound. It would be literally impossible for a cable to fail in such a way where it transmitted video, but was unable to transmit audio, unless it had some kind of audio-stripper chip in it! (but who would make such a cable?) There's a small chance the EDID (configuration) lines were damaged in the cable - in which case it would probably fall back to some kind of default configuration, low resolution 480p for instance, which for some reason the TV might not support fully.Last edited by tom66; 09-30-2017, 07:46 AM.Please do not PM me with questions! so i took out one of my spare gigabyte ep35-ds3r mobos from storage for use to do some cpu, ram and video card testing of stuff i bought from ebay and got for free from momaka. he bought 50 e8400 cpus for cheap from ebay some years ago and i decided to help him relieve him of some of his supply since he had waaaay too many!!

i had to blow some dust off the board and heatsinks with the datavac as i didnt clean it up before putting it in storage. after finishing...-

by japlyticWith a home theatre PC connected to a TV via HDMI, Windows reveals that the TV only supports stereo sound even though the TV has a HDMI ARC connection to an AV receiver which is powered on; I also had an issue that the AV receiver does not always retain the input setting for routing the HTPC video through to the TV in standby.
So I connected a second HDMI cable to the HTPC and set it to duplicate the video outputs, but I had random audio dropouts when playing content with surround sound being passed to the AV receiver (dropouts did not occur when I replayed the content where it dropped...08-31-2022, 10:09 PM -

by i_am_patchHi All. I had a Roland KR-3500 Digital Piano (similar to the KR-4500) that exhibited a Crackling audio sound on all keys. After reading somewhere about someone with a similar issue who had replaced all the Electrolytic caps I decided to also go down that route. (Spoiler : It worked !) After some basic troubleshooting I determined that it could be noise feeding thru from the Keyboard scanning since the Demo tunes played back undistorted and the Audio amp / speakers were fine ( Inserted an Audio signal into the rear Audio input). After extracting the main board from the shield, I replaced 7 Capacitors...

by LEECH666Good day ladies and gentleman!
I am currently trying to repair a Grundig Vision 9 37 9880 T USB LCD TV for a friend that has a weird audio problem. Basically everything works fine except for the heavily distorted sound when the Subwoofer module is connected and there is a buzzing sound coming from the PSU PCB.
This seems to be a rather rare TV so there is not much prior on topic help to be found however a service manual is available at the usual sources (Electro Tanya i.e.).
I think the PSU buzzing comes from one of the coils near the bridge rectifier but... - Loading...
