Sony KDL-42W829B - 'Error of panel ID' ?

I've just replaced the BAXL board on this TV after lightning close by caused it to fail and show three flashes of the red LED which (according to Sony's service manual) indicated that the BAXL board was the likely failed component.

Have just replaced this and now getting another error, alternate flashing of green and amber LED's. According to the service manual this indicates 'Error of panel ID'. The manual gives no further details, can anyone shed any light on what this means and what the solution might be?

So you've replaced the mainbaord. Did you ensure it was a mainboard from the exact model?
Sony also sometimes use LG and AUO panels for the same tv. Obviously if you have an AUO panel but install a mainbaord for an LG panel you'll get the amber and green code.

It was sold for the exact model number, and it is an exact match for part numbers as printed on the board itself - and there appear to be two versions available with one digit difference in a part number, so was sure to get this right. It looks visibly identical to the swapped out board.

Sony KD-65A1 Repair – 4 Red Blinks Error
        by AK_777
        Hi everyone!
I have a Sony KD-65A1 TV with a fault – 4 red LED blinks. After disassembly and visual inspection, I found that the G76 power board and DKA board had been replaced. It is also possible that TCON was replaced, but I am not sure – there are a few marker marks that could be factory-made.

Based on assumptions, the previous service attempted to solve the issue by replacing potentially faulty components. I decided to investigate further, found a service manual, and figured out a way to power up the power supply unit autonomously and put the OLED panel and...

Sony KD-75XF9005 grey Picture but Sound. TCON or panel?
        by iglitare
        Hi,

i want to repair a Sony KD-75XF9005 TV that initially only showed a grey picture.
Backlight seems to work, Sound (Setup menu after reset) works.
If i dissconnect the left FFC cable from TCON to panel i have half a screen on the right. If left cable is connected always only the grey screen.
Interchanged the cables, its always only the right side that is working. Always grey if left side is connected.
With my small knowledge i would think at least the cables are good.

Can this happen because of a bad tcon board?
Or is it always a bad/shorted...

        Sony OLED XBR-65A8G 4 flashes
        by Glaval
Hello, my Aunt recently gave me her broken Sony XBR-65A8G OLED after getting a replacement. It had a 4x led flash error, a replacement T-con didn't fix the error but with helpful info from this forum I found one of the smd ceramic caps on the panel pcb (C575/C378) on a 24v line was shorted to ground. I removed that cap and the tv turned on without error. It still had a black screen with the original t-con back in it, once I put the replacement t-con in it finally had a picture. After doing a panel refresh it had a very good picture but with a few vertical lines for some scenes. For owners with...

Sony XBR-75X940E intermittent 6 blinks error code
        by GoodCapDude
Hi everyone. First post on Badcaps!

I am trying to fix a Sony 940E from 2017 that either starts normally (and works perfectly until turned off) or goes straight to the 6 blinks error code without showing anything on the screen. It is frustrating to know that it can still work perfectly but is barely usable because of the difficulty starting it up. I am willing to try to short the BL_ERR but I would like to avoid that if possible. Does anyone have a view on this? Thanks a lot....
