Sony KDL-42W674A vertical bands

My Sony KDL-42W674A is showing vertical bands. See the attached pictures. Would the problem due to the T-CON? If so, any particular chip on the T-CON?

Really appreciate any help/pointers.

disconnect half of the t-con (ribbon to panel) and see if it gives you half of a good pic, then try the opposing side.

i think that it is panel though.
