Fixing magic sparkles on a Philips 50pf9830a plasma

Hi.

Anyone familiar with this TV? The Philips 50pf9830a plasma? A customer brought it to me a while back and we replaced the Y-Main, X-Main, the buffer boards, and the logic board, which fixed the original problem (bad Y and buffers, bad tuner). There were magic sparkles though on the left side (if you were looking at the TV). I want to say just the upper part of the screen, but it could have been the upper and middle part.

Would those side buffer boards be bad? This had side ones and then ones on the top. I don't have the TV right now, but he's decided he now wants the magic sparkles fixed. He said they had been there a long time.

I know a leaking PDP can cause it, but how do I test? I know I ran across a thread that discussed the magic sparkles a while back and it said some of them were fixable, depending on what the cause was....plasma's are definitely not my thing!

The voltages are all in the correct ranges / tolerances. Originally, he said he didn't care about them because they had always been there, but now he says he wants it like new. Not sure it's even possible. Any suggestions on what to do when / if I get the TV?

are you talking red green speckles on the screen ?
if its just one side check for bad solder joints on zsus

Thank you. When he brings me the TV, I will post pictures. For this board, I think the X-Main is considered the zsus board, which has been replaced and didn't fix the problem.

I believe they were red and green. There might have been some white ones, like snow. I'm afraid that PDP (I think that's what it's called) might be slowly leaking.

I thought turning up the VS voltage a little corrected this.
Maybe someone much more suited to this problem will chime in.

Yes that's the only way to fix this issue , screen on the way out
VS voltage +10volts no more ,have found on some makes lower works as well ,try both ,if you go too high the protection may kick in
The problem is its normally short term fix as it will eventually come back slowly

Yeah, if it's a leaking panel, I know it'd be a short term fix, and this is what I'm afraid of, that it's a leaking panel. Is there any other known causes that you can guys can think of? I'm sure when I get the actual TV, pictures will help more. Then you can see what I'm talking about.

Looks like Samsung made the panel? If it was LG there may have been a firmware update for the control board to help this problem, If the ysus board has set_up and set_dn adjustments they can also help to minimize the sparkle. Mark there original positions before adjusting.
