GVA 50FDLED slow to turn on

This set given to me is in nice condition and shows a reasonable picture but, of course, its a cheaper Chinese generic given an "in house" brand name.
It was all scrambled in picture settings at first but soon got that right but did notice set was slow to turn on at times and that has now gotten worse taking 5 to 10 minutes.
Pulled the back off and what do I get but almost the most stupid design arrangement yet seen. How can I possibly test anything. As it turns out though after taking out both power and main boards a slight swelling is seen on a dozen of the infamous capXon. Replacement should fix the problem but this post is mainly to highlight how difficult it is becoming to work on some of these sets.

You would think a recap would be the answer. yeah I have my preferred sets to work on.

You should be so lucky to have so much to play with.

Ya I have my preferred sets and they sure as hell aren't plasmas. Give me LCD anyday

I've had good luck with plasma but all Samsung or derivative thereof mainly due parts available at reasonable prices from overseas. These recent sets can be a pain though I just had a TCL 42" where main was in its own tin box in a recess on outside of back cover and power board in an adjoining recess both with their own covers. The leads of course all have to go thru access holes and as problem was inverter had to pull all apart then take chance fixing in new inverter then reassemble all for test with fingers crossed. Was ok though thank heavens. The influx of tv's I got is over for another year but did get 16 with some horse trading - now down to 6 left and mainly the hard ones with difficulty finding info and parts.

Re: GVA 50FDLED slow to turn on

Continue to have problems with this set taking own time to turn on. What happens now is switch on at pp and red standby light comes on but then no reaction to set controls or remote for about 3 minutes just a solid red standby, after the wait it will then react to input by turning green but without anything else happening, no clicking no nothing, until anywhere for 5 to 15 minutes when logo then appears and set starts from which time all becomes normal and response to remote or other inputs is immediate. Terrible set to work on as power and main mounted in back cover one right way up the other upside down whereas tcon is on body of set itself as is ir. I have a few ideas such as cold joint on main , possible Eeprom issue (not likely to find any firmware though), or ir board itself. Has anyone run into this type of problem??

Voltages coming right up? Do heating components hasten the start up?

Thanks for the input I gave it a try and best guess is that set takes longer to turn on. What I find unusual is no response at all from standby light when buttons activated - the Eeprom can't be involved as it won't get its voltage until power board is activated. I'm just going to have to try and test what voltages are doing before and after but difficult to do as will have to "float" main and be crammed up between back of set and set itself , not keen on having power board swinging loose. Should also mention that turning set off and back on again straightaway makes no real difference as again it just takes its own time to activate.

Your voltages are all good when you hit power button

Re: GVA 50FDLED slow to turn on

When I get it setup so that I have all connected but reasonably accessible (50" set) will then check starting with ir board voltage and input voltage drop/s, then see if standby reacts by dropping and if any return comes from main to turn power board on. Set is closed up and have had it running for a few hours - once going it is quite happy with no tendency to shut off or otherwise stop or play up so other voltages must be ok once activated.

The power supply is full of CapXOn capacitors which I believe most people replace since they have a tendency to go bad.
Have you tried to heat up area's of the boards to see if it powers up quicker?
Willing to help but I'm no expert.

Hello, i have some issues with my laptop Lenovo Y700-17ISK (motherboard BY511 NM-A541), it started when i turn on the laptop, but the lcd wont turn on, i then connected it via hdmi to tv and screen was ok. So i thought maybe lcd stripe is faulty, i removed the bottom cover, disconnected main battery, reset the cmos by disconnecting battery for 1 min, then slighty move the lcd stripe. Conncted power supply and tuned on my laptop, the lcd turn on, it started to load os, then it turn off, after a second it turn on, then after like 3 seconds turn off again, and so on. Removed power supply, waited...

MSI GF63 THIN 11UCX (MS-16R6) LAPTOP WON'T TURN ON AFTER RESTARTING
                      by RdeveLabs
                      To all the members here...

Let me tell you a little bit about what happened to my laptop (MSI GF63 THIN 11UCX model: MS-16R6) that “maybe” you know how to solve this problem.

So before this problem happened, my laptop was running smoothly. When I wanted to restart my laptop, it looked fine at first. But after I waited for this restart process to take a long time, until finally I panicked (because the restart process did not finish plus the laptop screen only showed a black screen), I immediately pressed and held the power button to force the laptop to turn off. But...

Acer Aspire 4520 won't turn on after reboot
                      by robante15
Hello, I have an Acer Aspire 4520 from a couple of decades ago and I want to repair it solely for nostalgia.

It happens that when I turn it on after having been disconnected for a long time, it turns on without problems, it tells me that the BIOS has been reset and that it will load the factory settings, if I tell it to continue, the computer turns on and everything works fine.

The moment I turn it off and want to turn it back on a second time, or restart it and try to start it again, it no longer gives an image, and it no longer responds.

                      If I remove the...

                      by masoksian
                      Hi everyone,

I am dealing with the problem of turning on and off my Dell e7470 notebook.

The battery charge light is solid white, I press the button, the power indicator and the light on the button are solid for 1-2 seconds and immediately turn off.

The system does not turn on, there is no post.

I removed the RAMs and changed them, changed the battery, RTC battery, AC adapter, removed them and waited, tried again, it does not turn on.
The problem continues in the same way.
I tried to turn on the Fn key, nothing came to the screen....
