    LA40D550K7M - Bad T-Con Or Bad Panel

I am working on this tv at the moment its displaying horizontal lines.
upon disconnecting the right side ribbon (backside) ribbon cable from the T-Con I get no lines just a perfect picture and half black screen.
connecting the left side ribbon(backside) I get a distorted picture with lines all over half of the screen and half a black screen...

Before I toss the rest of this tv out before removing PSU and Mainboard is the panel bad or is it t-con or assuming both?

Someone fix up the title and add make of tv "Samsung" in front of model I seem to have forgot.

I would try a replacement Tcon. They don't seem too expensive.
Willing to help but I'm no expert.

I would vote tcon as well. Check my post here https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=61650

I would try cleaning and reseating ribbon cable on bad side.
I assume no responsibility for any stupid suggestions I might post.

            T-con voltages (typical)
            1. Vin (Vcc): 12Vdc or 5Vdc
            2. (Vlogic,LCM, Vddd,VCC): 3.3Vdc
            3. Vda (Vs, Vsource,VDD, Vdda,Avdd): 14Vdc~20Vdc
            4. Vgh (Vgon,VGHR, Von, Vddg): 20Vdc~30Vdc
            5. Vgl (Vgoff,VST,VGHF,VGHEVEN, Voff,Veeg): -5Vdc~-7Vdc
            6. HVDD about 8v
            7. DVDD,VDDC 3.3v, 1.2v
            8. VCOM about 28v

Hey thanks.. No idea where any of these are the reference points might be different.

I also thought horizontal lines meant bad defective screen.

A pattern of lines can mean t-con or main board.

It was a bad panel new part is doing the same.
I would say this tv is now parts.

So a replacement Tcon did not resolve the problem. That's a pity.

Just bought this for 10 bucks yesterday hoping to fix it. The guy said water dropped inside from a dehumidifier hose and it started showing black and white vertical bars then went blank. When I got it home and turned it on it came on fine and displayed correctly but I was noticing faint vertical bars in the image. After a little bit I turned it off and back on and it was a black screen again. I opened it up to check for water damage and corrosion but didn't find anything of the sort. I cleaned the ribbons anyway and reconnected them but still got a blank screen. If I disconnect the right side...

                      hi
                      having problem with samsung ua55es6800

tv had backlight on, sound working - responds to the remote control but no image.

check tcon board - had 12v in but no other voltages present.
when disconnected left ribbon cable - got back voltages and half image with lines and distorsion

when leaving only left side connected - again no voltages and no image.

put a tape on all (cd?! lines) on the left ribbon cable and got complete but distorted image (horizontal lines).

kept trying to block less pins on the left ribbon cable...

Mi Curved Gaming Monitor 34" - Horizontal lines
                      by Kikerumbo
                      Hello everyone,

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

I have a Mi Curved Gaming Monitor 34". A few weeks ago it started to show (or not showing) horizontal lines. Of course, it's outside of the warranty period.

After some hours of reading and watching videos I disassembled the monitor and checked the ribbons that go from the TCON board to the panel PCB. If I disconnect the ribbon for the right side of the panel, the other half shows a perfect image. I ordered a "new" TCON, installed it and the issue persists so that tells me it must...

Samsung UN65TU8000 - Panel Issue [ hole in ribbon cable ]
                      by NWArkGuy
Well, I will be the first to admit that I screwed up...

In attempting to replace the backlight in a UN65TU8000, I made a hole through one of the ribbon cables between the board that runs along the bottom of the back of the TV and the panel. This lead to a between a 1/4 to 1/2 inch vertical stripe running the full height of the image.

I don't have the experience; personally, to solder a bridging wire for the paths that were cut. So, I have been on the hunt for other Samsung TV's of similar size.

I have 2 that I have found and have in my possession. ...
