Westinghouse SK-32H240S vertical lines and fade to black

Someone gave me a Westinghouse SK-32H240S TV/DVD combo unit. When you power on the unit you see the Westinghouse logo with a bunch of rainbow vertical lines, then you see it searching for a signal and slowly the screen fades to black.

Backlight inverters are still on (so I don't think this is the "2 seconds to black" issue in other threads where the backlight turns completely off?) and you can still hear sound from the source. But the screen is black with some gray lines down the center (where the vertical lines were before).

    Do you think it's a defective T-Con?

    Thanks,
    --Dave

(I attached pictures representative of what my boards look like from ones I was looking at on eBay. If you need pictures of the ACTUAL board in my TV let me know and I can get it)

Try having cables between TCON and the LCD panel connected one at a time to see what you will get on the screen.

Will do. In the meantime, here's a picture of what it does with both T-con cables attached (attached). And a video: http://******/2tC4ofh

Ok, I tried unplugging one cable from the T-Con to the panel and then the other. Here are the two photos of what occurred.

Any thoughts based on the pics? I ordered a new T-Con just to try it. It was only $5.99. Should be here Monday.

I am leaning toward bad panel.

I would have to agree. Try the T-con though, there is a small chance it will fix the issue. Can't see it being anything but T-con or panel.

Next order of business - the DVD drive is kaput. The cheapest I found from an online seller was $32 including shipping and I don't think it's worth buying considering the whole TV is probably worth about $60. Anyone have a spare they're willing to part with, or a cheap source? Thanks!

Never mind. I sold it without the DVD player
