Thanks for the information on this forum!

I was able to order a replacement board for this tv,
the logic board 1-895-307-11 MBP,
from PartServ
(ShopJimmy was out of stock and low expectations of replenishment),

replace the board,

enter the service menu thru the secret key sequence,

and take a guess at selecting the correct panel (which was extra difficult because the text on screen was so pixelated it was very hard to read.

I used my smart phone to take photos, then edited the photo to increase clarity as much as I could, and when it restarted, the display was the proper orientation and clear text!

total part cost $80

time of research approx 2 hours

time of repair approx 1 hour

saved approx $1,000 if I had to buy a new tv at comparable size 60" and features

good to hear you did it in this way.. there are other was called self diagnose by Sony, same to service menu hide No. but this will read the LCD ID and register it automatic in case logic board had different serial No-

well last night the fixed tv would not turn on again, no power led lit at all, so I can't do any diagnostics.

this part seems to be sold out all over the web, I wonder if that means this has a design defect and it fails after a certain number of hours in use?

i'm requesting a refund under warranty, I'll see if I can find another board online, and I'll consider using a cpu fan to blow cool air on the heat sink of the replacement board because I noticed the old board was extremely hot during testing. that might mean i'll need to modify the back cover to drill some ventilation holes. lol, what a pain in the ass Sony!

You've entered the service menu and played about with the settings. Pretty harsh wanting a refund.

why do you say it's harsh? the part was sold with a warranty. why should i not exercise my right to a refund on a part that failed within the warranty period?
