Blue Line - 70 Inch Sharp

    Hey All,

An unwelcomed blue line showed up on my tv this weekend. Is there anyway to fix or save this tv, or is it time to get a new one?

    TIA

Remove front bezel and metal strip to expose tabs. Find bad tab bond. Apply some rubber strips to put pressure on tab. Hope for the best.
I assume no responsibility for any stupid suggestions I might post.

It is likely that you have a bad tab driver on the side of the panel. It is not fixable. :-( You can try the posted suggestion to see if it helps. Ultimately, the TV may be saveable by removing the tabs along the "infected side". Lot of threads on the this forum where many have been successful at doing the "surgery" and getting the tv back to basically normal. Go slow and do some reading and you will likely be successful also.

        Thanks!

I will try the rubber. I need to remove the bad tab if that does not work?

I had one, then two blue lines. Followed advice I found on this forum about swapping inputs and found the problem was my Comcast cable box not the TV! Thanks to all who posted advice here!

Figures, because Sharps are real sensitive to bad components and often does an auto-shutdown if a component is faulty...

On another thread, someone has posted that Sharp added a protection circuitry that detects issues that others don't, so they detect a failing component sooner than others, but has been criticized as being hyper-sensitive.
That's why it's hard to keep a Sharp TV on when troubleshooting...
