Sharp LC70le650x side tab removed, most of the picture returned

    Hi all,

I have a sharp LC70le650x which had the same symptoms described in multiple threads on this website. I read a few and got the courage up to pull the side driver tabs off the offending side, in my case on the right (like most I read in here)

First power up following this I still had nothing. Second the same. Third and and every time after that, I get a full picture, but with two bands of "vertical lines" running across the screen.

Is it possible that I did something wrong pulling the bottom tab off?

Or that the left side bottom tab is also buggered?

Or that there is something else wrong? Ie tcon etc

Or simply that the screen is past it and although slightly excited I got a picture back I sadly say goodbye?

    Ideas would be awesome guys.

And as a side note these forums are great. Plenty of step by step info that got me this far! Thanks again

Check the surface carefully where you pulled the bottom tabs off to make sure there is nothing left there to cause problems. Clean good with alcohol.

Tried cleaning the area where the tabs were with alcohol and nothing much happened. Pretty similar with the lines across the screen.

But... Now there's a black spot that grows in the middle of the screen... And the picture freezes.

Is it time to say goodbye to the TV? Or anything else I can try as a last effort?

If it is buggered, I'd like to part it out.

Would what is happening indicate a bad main board or tcon? I'd hate to sell someone a bad part.

      Cheers Chris

Sharp Aquos LC-70C6400U Half Screen Dark
          by scubacamper
I found another post on this site the other day which has been very helpful in troubleshooting this issue I am having with my tv. The left half of the screen is dark, and the other half is VERY slow to generate it's image - and it only generates part of its image at that.
Based on this yt video, I have narrowed it down to an issue (short?) on the left side of the display, somewhere in the system of ribbon cables.
when I remove the bezel and the rear cover, I can get the image to display correctly by manipulating the ribbon cables on the left side which connects the left lower display...

HANNSG Hi221 -- 2 secs to black feat. CCFL flicker & "burn" marks on power board
          by ttmi100x
          Greetings everyone,

I have a HANNSG Hi221 monitor that exhibits two seconds to black issues (backlight goes off, display is still on as confirmed by shining a flashlight on it) with some additional oddities...

The monitor failed on me with a standard "2 seconds to black" some time ago prompting me to initially replace most of the electrolytic capacitors (some of them were bulging/leaking).
Things kinda sorta worked for a night, then the problem returned along with some flickering and "buzzing" noises.

          Upon closer inspection...

Samsung TV model UE50TU: rebooting, backlight, sound, but no picture
          by TR103
          Hi, I have a Samsung UE50TU with:
          - sound and backlight, but no picture
          - when it arrived, it had a picture for a few seconds
          - it keeps rebooting
          - without ribbon cable between the two panel boards, it does not reboot but I have no picture
          - without cable between mainboard and lcd panel, it does not reboot (but obviously i have no picture)
          - when i try a tape fix, its keeps rebooting, unless I tape off pin 1 (the innermost pin). In that case it does not reboot but I have no picture.

          - without cable between mainboard and lcd panel and with a jumpered...

Sharp LC70LE747 Flickering - darkening gradually to the right side
          by SmartSarah
          Dear,

I can not pinpoint the following problem on my Sharp TV LC70LE747E.
While the left side of the screen is not affected at all the right side of the screen gradually fades to a kind of dark. I can best describe this darkness like a totally worn out CRT display or a gamma correction totally out of range. This darkness flickers like a flame, a dark one tough.
Sometimes when I restart the TV it disappears for a while.
The problem worsened over time the last few months.

I've replaced the t-con module without success. The problem remains.

70LE660U dark cloud or black screen with sound.
          by Rozp
          Hello Everyone,

This is my first post so I will try to be as precise as possible without making this post too long winded. Unfortunately I don't have pictures of the original problem but I included images of the TV internals.

I have a Sharp 70LE660U. The problem started a few months ago with the bottom row looking out of sync and was dark on the left side and then fading to transparent on the right side. Shortly after, a dark cloud appeared in the center of the screen. The dark cloud started small and shaded but the image was visible. It also affected the menu area....
