Panasonic L42FT60E black horizontal lines flickering in the middle of the screen

    Hi,

After 3 years of the purchase date, my Panasonic model L42FT60E (~1000 Euro cost) shows black lines that are flickering in the middle of the screen.

Is there any Caps problem or the Panel itself ? What is your technical opinion ?

Here also a youtube video of the problem

      Hi,

How sure are you for that ? I did not open the TV yet but it maybe a bad cap, mosfet or even the connector.

Anyway, do you know or where to find the panel part number in case there is indeed a panel fault ? Is this easy to find ?

      Regards,

No, dont be silly do some research. Mosfets or caps wont cause drive lines like this to drop. Likely the gate in glass lcd driver for the horizontal rows has failed causing artifacts like that not replaceable you will need a whole new lcd panel and finding them is impossible

As reecey says. It's impossible to find a new panel. If you find one you will pay at least $500/600 and need to order them by 250+.

You don't have any warranty? I mean 3 years..... ( Actually long for any modern led tv ).

What happens when you press on the mainboard while the tv is on?
I only repair Panasonic plasma tv's! Currently owning a TX-P55VT50 and still searching for a ZT60!

            Hi,

Thanks for your reply. I will open the tv one of those days to do a search.

Anyway, a failed cap or mosfet or resistance in the logic unit or even a bad Y-buffer board is impossible according to your opinion to be the root of the problem ? I will measure the components on the T-Con board for possible failures. If Y/X-Buffer and Y/X Sustain boards are ok then I will search for a used T-Con board in the ebay ! I think is worth instead of buying a brand new TV.

              Hey,

No my warranty is over (2 years). I did not open the tv yet for repair, but really I dont undertand your question, why to press the mainboard for cracks maybe ?

Re: Panasonic L42FT60E black horizontal lines flickering in the middle of the screen

Well first of all you are mixing plasma and lcd together. The LCD does not have a y or z sustain board. It has a mainboard , power supply and a t-con.

Tv's from 2012/2013 etc don't have capacitors that are failing. You will mostly find them in older lcd tv's or poor build tv's.
This is a "high end" Panasonic led tv and Panasonic almost never has problems with bad capacitors.

This is most likely a panel fault which you can not repair. Maybe if you are lucky the BGA soldering under the gpu is bad. Maybe with pressing down on the board might change the image?

Does this happen on every HDMI input? Try playing a movie via USB , same issue? Just looking at the video looks like it happens every few seconds. Almost very 2 seconds so it could even be software/mainboard related.

                  Hi there,

Thank you for your infos ! Yes, the problem happens in every situation, TV viewing, hdmi inputs, usb etc and yes it is blinking in about every two seconds.

Anyway, as I understand the Panel itself does not have any problem since it is not cracked, but the t-con board that drives the panel. Is that correct ?

So If I replace the t-con board (if is this the board that fails) with a used one, I suppose it will be ok !

                  Regards,

No , The panel itself most likely the problem.

If you can find a used t-con for cheap then try it but i don't think it will solve the problem. The panel does not have to be cracked to be bad.

Ah ! this is a really shitty situation ! Is there anyway to verify this before I buy the used board ?

PS: >>The panel does not have to be cracked to be bad

I am really surprised that panasonic is using crapy panels ! I have used almost 30 LCD panels starting from computer monitors to TVs. This is the 1st time I hear that the panel itself it may be bad ! Should I trust panasonic again ? I am wondering ....
