Ok guys, problem solved, found pinched speaker wires, works fine now.
Thanks to all who helped me grope my way thru.

glad you sorted it in the end do all the inputs work and plays dvds etc fine as you was having a error?

Yep, everything works perfect. I still love this old bugger, it was only my ignorance and imptience that caused me to spend more on it than I should . I have a couple of other projects in mind for later, a transistor multiband radio with very low volume and a 1947 kohler generator that the automatic start and stop have quit working but that's for another day'

pity you got sold a faulty replacement mainbord did you manage too get anything back from the seller as was faulty when arrived too you atleast the last replacement main board turned out a good purchase.
