Panasonic TH-42PZ70B Not switching on solved THANKS

Good morning, Thanks to Badcaps for helping me solve the problem on my Panasonic TH42PZ70B. The set was not switching on.
Thanks to Tom & others who thrashed out the problem back in 2012.

The customer had looked himself and came in with a little tub of screws Photo 1
Removing of the Y main involved removing a couple of pieces photo 2

The errant Mosfet as Tom had said was short circuit (H5N2307) photo 3 & 4
I could not source the component locally, and could not even find a Datasheet for the component on the net.

I found an old Panasonic Y main pcb with a similar lay out. photo 5. I read Toms advice about the slight differences in parameters of similar devices, but effectively replaced the faulty H5n2307 with a 2sk3995. photo 6

I have run the set for two hours, and all looks okay. If it returns, I'll have to try source original or refund. photo 7 (sorry sun light/ picture quality)

I didn't do the upgrade either, reckoning that the part had failed due to ware & tare (set has run for 5 years plus), and not due to old/erroneous drive.

Thanks, you guys are a wealth of information.

Desoldering gun station modified to use a 18 volt @ 20 amp switching power supply
      by sam_sam_sam
I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...

Panasonic switching power supply daughter board has two 27uf @ 50 volt capacitors which I do not keep in stock
      by sam_sam_sam
I did not have any 27uf @ 50 volt capacitors but one nice thing is that it has enough room for two capacitors in parallel a 22uf and a 4.7uf @ 50 volts 22 plus 4.7 equals 26.7uf which so very close to 27uf I will show some pictures of it sometime tomorrow

This is one of the shit est boards I seen in a very long time and it was the daughter board the traces just lifting off the board I had to use the capacitor leads to repair the the traces and the main board is not any better because I had to repair several traces for the daughter board to the main board

      After all of...

Modification to a ZD-987 desoldering/soldering station using a external switching power supply
      by sam_sam_sam
I have been working on this concept for quite some time now with limited success but recently I found a switching power supply that is setup for the voltage that this soldering station needs to operate at however it also needs part of the secondary circuit from the original switching power because you need several voltage rails

I once tried to get a ZD-915 desoldering station to work on a 18 volt battery power supply but unfortunately things did not go well but I did find a work around but I might try this idea again but going at a little differently more about this another time...

Panasonic TC-P55ST50 8 blinks then no blinks
      by Andre Gilbert
Hello! yes I know there is already lots of information about this issue. I have a Panasonic TC-P55ST50 that originally displayed an 8-blink error code. Following the troubleshooting flowchart, I ended up replacing the SS board. However, even after replacing it, the issue persists. The TV turns on and stays on without displaying an image, and continuity is confirmed on all connectors. What am I missing here🤔?
Ok Im a mechanical engineer ...but I thought I was able to follow a rather simple flowchart for electric troubleshooting 😂.

      (SOLVED) - Panasonic TH-50PZ80U - No HDMI
      by JDC
Issue: Panasonic TH-50PZ80U works fine but has no HDMI output.

      Easy solution: replace main board.
Advanced solution: replace HDMI chip on main board.

Unless you've got the time, tools and the hands of a surgeon, skip the advanced solution. For you beginners out there reading this, you would need to use a combination of a heat gun, flux, solder, and probably a microscope to succeed. If there is someplace you can send the board in for repair, you can go for that. From what I've read elsewhere, I don't think this TV will even do 720p.

      If none...
