VESTEL 17IPS20 in 48" Tosh LED, dead...

I have this 48" Tosh thats dead--no supplies to M.B. checks on PSU indicate the 12V supply is pulsing between 0 and 6-9V.

No apparent short diodes or mosfets.

Confirmed MB and panel are OK by plugging in a 17IPS20 from a 40". Set boots, has no backlights (as wrong PSU) but has images on screen, so set is basically good, just PSU crapped out.

Ive not needed to do much with these IPS20 PSU's in past--Any ideas?

There appear to be a number of models for this supply. Is the 400V up and have you just lost the 12V & 24V drive voltages?

There's Loads of different versions of that PSU. PFC isnt running--as set doesn't turn on--no 5 12 or any other voltages.

Only voltage present is a pulsing 5-9V on the 12V filter-caps--Thing appears to be squegging and not running...

Check the ceramic caps near the pfc controller Ics for short circuits.

Do you have VCC_Main from which VCC is derived. I had a similar problem on a power supply when the transistor had gone faulty. Maybe worth a quick check of Q207, Q208 and especially Q216

Ive also had the pfc diode, MUR460AX go leaky, not shorted but leaky causing low pulsing voltages.

Hi everybody! Been around the forum for awhile (very helpul, thanks ) but this is my first post. I think I have the same fault that Alastair. The set is a 40" Vestel with 17IPS20 Psu. No fuse blown, no shorted transistors, no shorted diodes but no out voltage . I only have a pulsating voltage on the secondary diodes that goes this way:

With main board connected: Fast pulse, 11V-3V
With mainboard disconnected:: 11.8V then slowly falling down to 7V, then up again, the down, then up...

You can hear a "tack" on the Psu every time the voltage goes up.

I replaced U202, the PFC diode (as Reecy suggested), Q201, checked Smd components for bad measures or shorts, but no luck...

Did you finally repair your set Alastair?

Any help will be very apreciated. Thank you.

                          Hi everybody,

                          I'm bringing this topic back...

I've the same problem with the following set:

                          DUAL 39 LED TV
                          DLE39F182P3CV2

                          PSU: 17IPS20

                          Checked the Diodes and MOSFETS.

I'll try to make a video of the pulsing. It is between ~0 - ~7 V DC

                            by speggio91
                            Hello everyone!

I have this board that got slightly water damanged and it is stuck at S5 state. It pulses once every 5 seconds.
When connected the magsafe 2 to the bench psu, the current goes from 0.02A to 0.10A when is pulsing.

When using the genuine magsafe 2 charger, the light turn on and it became green and then amber. The fan is not spinning.
When I tried the SMC bypass mode, the fan spins a quarter every 5 seconds and the pulsing is still present every time the fan spin.

The pulses are present in the CPU Vcore rails on L7320 and L7310....

                            Quick Question Please.
Is low resistance on gate pin 5 of U202 normal? I have a very very low resistance of 5 ohm on this gate. In diode mode, it looks shorted and beeps. Is this a normal behavior of this FAN6300 IC?
All other components on this vestel board have valid readings except for this U202 IC.

                            Hello guys,

yesterday, I have killed 17IPS20 23117579-27002042, by accidentally making short circuit on MOSFET Q211m while trying to measure coltage on its legs. According to the schematics I could find in the Internet Q211 is FQPF8N60C. Please have a look at the attached picture. I have short circuited Gate and Source. After this I don't even have StdBy voltages on the connector.

What else could be potentially damaged so I can check before ordering replacement parts? I ask this because I couldn't find exact schematics for this particular revision. I believe it is...

                            Hi all,

As the title suggests, how can I be sure that my EC chip is really dead?

I've recently gotten into this hobby of laptop repairs, and have successfully brought back to life a couple with some easy fixes, mostly shorted caps.

Now I'm working on HP Probook 455 G8, that had some "devil" run around on 3V line, burning a bunch of stuff. Luckily I have a dead 455G7 (for spare parts) so I managed to fix it (swapped burned parts) to a point that it will charge (both on barrel jack and usb-c), but it doesn't want to turn on. There is a 3V3 on a keyboard...
