Vizio P50HDTV10A can't find bad board

    Hello All,
I am hoping someone can help me track down a problem with a vizio p50hdtv10a that won't turn on or off. The tv is always on I can only turn it off by using a powerstrip. I had the bad caps on the psb and the problem with the picture not staying on so I replaced the psb and the ysus boards but it still wont turn on or off. If I unplug the 7pin connector on the left side of the psb(see photos) the tv will power up, relays click on and i have a backlight, three led lights on one of the boards to the left and below the psb come on. If that connector is plugged in I get nothing but the green light on the front of the tv.

    Hmm-

No Backlight, Its a Plasma-They dont have 'em, an LG X3 probably from what I see in the pics, or poss a V8.

--Try the Ext-Auto-Gen on the control-board, confirm test-patterns, but Mainboard is prob dead or has missing supplies...

I may be using the wrong terminology. when the set is on and without the seven pin connector plugged in the screen will have faint light all over.
It is definitely a plasma of that I am sure. What I don't know is which of the three boards is bad. I am guessing one of the has a short somewhere, but I don't know how to track it down.
Thanks for your help with this

OK I hope this is what you are asking for, I am not an expert at this but I have a multi-meter and I am not afraid to use it. Testing the four pins for dc voltage from left to right I have 0.0, 3.3, 3.3, 0.0

There is no image on the screen if that is the "test patterns" you are asking for I have no way getting them. I can test for ohms , ac and dc voltages and for shorts. when the seven pin connector is plugged in I have no dc-v on the Vs or Va and nothing on psb or ysus fuses. the fuses all test good but no power to them. I don't mind replacing boards, but I would rather replace just the bad one and not the rest of them. This is a pic of the seven pin connector that seems to short out everything.

Thank you all for any assistance you can give me.

Re: Vizio P50HDTV10A can't find bad board

On Ext-Auto-Gen, you short out pins 1-2 or 3-4 and you'll get test-patterns. You need to disconnect the LVDS cable first, then power it up.

LVDS is cable from cont. board (One with Auto-Gen on) to mainboard.

Well--there should be images on-screen, usually cycling through...

If not, you have display issues, prob one of SUS boards or the PSU. Check voltages, Vs Va, VSC -Vy and VZ-Bias

Vs is 191.2dcv at psb ysus and zsus boards. Va is 60.2dcv on all three. sorry for not understanding the others.

Further testing the connector from psb to main is P800
with it unplugged led's on the ctlr board d2-0ff d3,d4 and d5 on. when i test the p800 pins (ac-d 4.8 then 0.0 testing shuts down ps)(rl-on 0.0 testing shuts down ps)(5Vsb 4.9-5v)(DET 4.6v)(VS-ON 1.1v)(5V-D 5v)(GND 0.0). I have seen two threads with similar problems but they end without a solution being posted.

Thank you all for your help

Re: Vizio P50HDTV10A can't find bad board

I replaced the main board the ctrl board the ysus board and the power supply board. Good news is the TV works and has really good picture (for a 720p). Bad news is now the remote control doesn't work which is weird because it worked perfect before I fixed everything else. anyone know how to test a IR board, or do I need to reset the remote somehow after replacing most of the TV's insides? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
