How did you determine the gamma was correct? Just curious

It’s crazy what these edge-lit LED TVs cost back in 2010. I remember they all had issues with blooming and flashlighting to some degree.

Bought 2 10 packs from ebay incase I find more of them.
Is that on the SS board? (the Z, according to Tom66:https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=18542& )

I don't own a colorimeter (yet ), i use a visual tool to check gamma. It is of course not perfect and a bit subjective since you are just using your own eyes, but it can be used to at least bring a screen "in the ballpark" and it is way better than no calibration at all, or doing it completely by eye on picture material. On this, no adjustments were needed. You can see the pattern in the 3rd pic of that post, and here is the link: http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/gamma_calibration.php This website has all kinds of test patterns for LCD screens.

Yeah it does bloom a little, but overall the backlighting is very uniform, i've seen expensive MONITORS with poorer uniformity than this set. Local dimming on this does produce some light columns, but it only does it on bright objects on a completely black background, like the credits screen of a movie. So it's staying on.

Very cool! I was not aware that you can use patterns to adjust gamma. I use a cheapie i1Display Pro for all my calibrations but your method is way more economical

I've been obsessed with picture quality since i was a kid, and back then, no way i could have afforded a colorimeter. Found thouse websites along the way.

Nowadays i could afford one, but i can't justify the money spent on it as i wouldn't use it often and it won't recoup its investment - few people have heard of screen calibration in this country. Though i do know a few graphics artists that could spread the word. Hmm. Maybe one day it is worth trying.

HANNSG Hi221 -- 2 secs to black feat. CCFL flicker & "burn" marks on power board
              by ttmi100x
              Greetings everyone,

I have a HANNSG Hi221 monitor that exhibits two seconds to black issues (backlight goes off, display is still on as confirmed by shining a flashlight on it) with some additional oddities...

The monitor failed on me with a standard "2 seconds to black" some time ago prompting me to initially replace most of the electrolytic capacitors (some of them were bulging/leaking).
Things kinda sorta worked for a night, then the problem returned along with some flickering and "buzzing" noises.

              Upon closer inspection...

Help on Samsung Syncmaster T220 dead ccfl lamp
              by mikey5791
              Hi,

This monitor previously is my main working monitor which i have been using for 8~9 years. Yesterday, when i switched on my pc from fresh to power on, the monitor is just black no display. I started dismantle to look inside the monitor power board but nothing looks suspicious or burnt. So i took my external ccfl inverter to try to power the monitor ccfl lamps which consisted of 2 lamps on upper part and 2 lamps on the lower part.

Found out the upper ccfl lamp which is supposed to connect to cn304 on the power board did not light up. Then i installed a used working...

Design of CCFL Backlight Inverters with Frame & Bar Cores

              Summary

Portable devices, such as notebook computers and personal digital assistants are developed rapidly nowadays, which places an increasing demand on display technology. The LCD with cold cathode fluorescent back lighting satisfies the requirements on display performance, size and efficiency.

The backlight inverter plays a crucial role in supplying the power to the lamps of these flat-panel displays.

The frame and bar ferrite cores, described in this brochure, are especially designed...

BIOS upgrade fail mother GA-A320M-S2H (rev. 1.2)
              by andrestecno
Hi, my USB ports were hanging every now and then when starting up. So I decided to update the BIOS of the mother. Unfortunately, after finishing the flashing through QFLASH with a pendrive of the latest firmware version, the cooler turns on, black screen and seems blocked.

              Model: GA-A320M-S2H (rev. 1.2)
              Processor: AMD A8 9600
              Previous BIOS version: F53

I downloaded the F58d version from here (I think it's the correct one)

Is there anything that can be done?...
