Sony XBR-65X810C - LED Replacement
Hello, I recently got a free Sony XBR-65X810C from my neighbor and it works great except for a bluish tint caused by blue LEDs (I checked the vents and the LEDs are giving a blue light instead of white.). I plan on replacing the LED strips and was wondering how difficult it is to do that on this TV. Is the LCD panel glued down? Easy to lift off using suction cups? I appreciate any tips or suggestions!

Hisense TV 32D33 - Replaced EEPROM, now menus have no text
The TV initially had a steady (not flashing) red standby light but did not turn on when power button was pressed. I tried all the usual “fixes” but nothing worked. TV would not turn on. After researching the issue, I concluded the cause was a bad EEPROM chip. I ordered the appropriate chip from ShopJimmy:

I took off the old chip using my hot air station and soldered...Last edited by NYKing; 10-07-2021, 05:10 PM.

Re: opinion on old plasma tvs i have gaetway daiwoo akai
Well, sometimes you never know a vintage tech may become collectible. For example, Sony Trinitron TVs are now in high demand and commanding good prices due to collector and nostalgic interest. Certain types of VCRs such as Super VHS and VCR to DVD recorders are becoming hot items on eBay. The same with old analog stereo amps and tape decks from the 70s and 80s...I remember you can’t even give these things away a few years ago. Who knows, quality plasma TVs or certain LCD/LED tech may follow the same collectible path.

Re: Recalibration needed after Main/A board replacement?
Thanks for your input, TVTimmy! I am very obsessive when it comes to squeezing the most image quality out of my TVs and that means performing a proper calibration for each one. It involves quite a bit of time and effort using colorimeters, slides and dedicated software like CalMan so if there is no need to repeat the process, I would be relieved. I know the main/A board has the color management bits but I am not sure If these boards are all uniform in that regard or have enough variation to warrant recalibration.

Recalibration needed after Main/A board replacement?
Hi all, this is just a general question for you folks who had main/A boards replaced and care about image fidelity...I was wondering after the main/A board for a plasma or LCD TV is replaced, do you need to recalibrate the TV again (hiring a pro or using your own colorimeter) or can you simply enter in the same color/white balance values you had before. Since the panel is the same, I would think you can use the same values again but I am not sure. Thanks for your time.

Re: Holy mother of TV scores!
Very cool! I was not aware that you can use patterns to adjust gamma. I use a cheapie i1Display Pro for all my calibrations but your method is way more economical...

Re: Holy mother of TV scores!
How did you determine the gamma was correct? Just curious
It’s crazy what these edge-lit LED TVs cost back in 2010. I remember they all had issues with blooming and flashlighting to some degree....

Re: LG 50PC5D-UC.....Score!
Yeah, 90pound 720p plasmas are not worth the trouble nowadays. A friend owned this exact model and could not sell it, even for $20 in perfect working/cosmetic condition so he gave it away to a neighbor.Last edited by NYKing; 03-14-2018, 01:15 PM.

Re: Panasonic Plasma TC-P50GT30 7 blinks SC board shorted
The OEM screws get loose over time so you should get locking screws instead:

Probably a cost cutting measure to use the cheaper non locking screws or not hiring good QA people at Mexican plant. Blame the accountants/executives lolRe: Panasonic Plasma TC-P50GT30 7 bl...instead:<br />...

Re: Panasonic tc-p50s30 su,sc,ss repair help
First time poster here...I just want to thank all of you, especially tw2006 and tom66, for the amazing advice and expertise on this thread and others. Your comments really helped me tremendously. Last week, someone in my condo complex threw out a near mint condition Panny TC-P50S30 which I decided to haul back to my apt to see if I can make use of it. It was simply too pretty to let it go to the landfill. It exhibited the dreaded 14 blinking red lights and after googling the problem, I luckily stumbled onto badcaps.net and this forum....
