Hitachi ( Vestel) went in flames

    Hi Everyone
I am newbie to this forum, but I have been messing around with electronics since I can remember . Occasional tiny fire is common .

Anyways what is bugging me today : Vestel sh*t (See Attached pictures)
    Full info:
    Hitachi 32HXC01U A
    PSU/LED driver : 17IPS19-P
    Main board: 17MB82-2
    Display: VES315WNDL-01

I was given it with no picture, but supposedly had sound(never went to test the audio).
My first thing was to try to see if led backlight was up – No it was not.
While I was trying to measure the the PSU ON and backlight ON signals between boards- I got a tiny fire
    Vestel main board went smoking.

Now to be fair this might have been my bad (not sure about this part). Nevertheless that resulted in charred U49 - no way to see its ID. Literally gone in fire and smoke. Now even LED stand-by indicator wont show any signs of life. From design U49 appears to be key part of a Buck power supply. If I am not mistaken it has both the mosfet and diod(possibly secondary mosfet) inside. Anyway – anyone has a clue what is its input and output voltage? I traced its output to both demodulator MT5135AE and CPU MT5820LUNU

My Idea is to provide the correct voltage and if it switches on see if I can sort out the backlight. I am guessing is either 5v or 3.3v. Anyone hazards a guess?

What other main boards can work with this display?

P.S. While measuring I did see +24v supply being alive.... until the other board went smoking on me.

Re: Hitachi ( Vestel) went in flames

Lol tbh might just be easier to replace the mainboard with another that work with VES315WNDL IMO also check the Led drive voltage you might have a failed Led in the screen. Watch my videos on how to test this.

Also others will swear you have to match every exact bar code number-you dont all you need to match is the connector from psu to mainboard and what panel it works for in your case is WNDL.

Or if your wanting to sell the fucker I will buy it lol

Re: Hitachi ( Vestel) went in flames

There appears to be quite a few components missing/burnt off the board when comparing it to the attached image. It may be easier to replace it than try and repair it.

Re: Hitachi ( Vestel) went in flames

There are 4 components missing- one is the U49, the others were removed by me during my investigation.
I did see ReeceyBurger's videos about failed LEDs, but unfortunately this LED driver (part of a) board isn't giving the output needed, hence i was looking into power on and brightness signal from the main board when it went in flames.

P.S. I should apologize for the bad de-soldering - i am currently working with very limited tools as most of my stuff is back home a few countries away.

Request: Firmware for Hitachi 42HXT12U (Vestel 17MB95M, VES420UNDL Panel)
            by Bazilwrc164
            Hi all,

I’m looking for a USB firmware file or EEPROM dump for a Hitachi 42HXT12U TV.

The mainboard is a Vestel 17MB95M, and the screen panel is VES420UNDL.

I recently replaced the mainboard with another 17MB95M, but it’s programmed for an LC420DUJ panel, and I’m getting no picture. I’d like to flash the correct firmware via USB or update the EEPROM if needed.

            If anyone can provide:
            • A working USB firmware file (like upgrade_loader.pkg or mb95_m.bin)
            • Or a compatible EEPROM dump
            ...

Hitachi (Vestel) TV is not turning on
            by Askic
            Hello guys,

I have 32 inch Hitachi TV with Vestel PSU board 17IPS71. Tv was working normally and I shut it down normally via remote control.
The next morning it couldn't turn ON neither with remote controller or via button on the logic board.
There is a red standby LED ON, so it is not dead totally.
I have examined the PSU board and I cannot find find any traces of blown components or bulged caps. Electrolytic caps are manufactured by Elite.
I also check diodes and big MOSFET (with cooler/heatsink). It seems OK.

Can you tell me based on...

Hitachi 43HAE4251 - Vestel 17MB171 - Displays logo and reboots
            by EnricoS92
            Hello,

I have a problem with this tv Hitachi with vestel 17MB171 board.

I turned off a couple days ago and the next morning when I turned on it had the issue, i tried to left the power unplugged for several hours but nothing.

The tv turns on shows the logo picture and after a few seconds reboots, and start over again.

I was able to connect via uart to the tv and grab the log I attached, it has logged 3 reboots.

I believe it is a corrupted software, but I could not find any online, does anyone has it, or where to download....

Vestel tv, how to flip the image?
            by France_53
Hello everyone from Italy, I'm here to ask for help on a Vestel TV, I've had a Vestel TV branded "XD" with a broken screen for years, but now I've found a Telefunken (still Vestel but older) and I've mounted the panel on the "XD" TV, it works, but the screen is upside down, given that Vestel does not allow you to rotate the image from the service menu, does anyone know how to solve the problem? the original panel is marked ves315WNDS-2D-N12 while the main board 17mb110, the panel I mounted instead in the tv (from the telefunken) is a ves315WNDA-02. ... It is not worth repairing...
