  • Re: Hitachi (Vestel) 32hxc05u blue/red stand by flashing

EDIT: I am not tight or greedy - I got this tv to have some fun playing with. Its my hobby messing with everything -I have been car electrician, mechanic, Immo manipulations, previously was etching PCBs, repairing motherboards on PCs, etc, etc, etc. I am no expert in any of it but I always get things done in the end.

I bet you gave way more than that as right advises to countless people.
As for a "right" firmware - I am guessing that it wont be any different to what I can source on my own for free from different sources. Russian sites are for one - plenty of stuff out there.

As I said before I know a few languages and can benefit from using more sources - Russia, Ukraine, Bulgaria.

If I am not mistaken now I will need to remove the flash chips once more and try to find other...

    Good evening guys

Sorry for not writing earlier - been busy with other projects - Recovery truck and a misbehaving car. Today got the tv out of the garage and played a bit. Did a core update exactly like in the video. It did read from the flash drive, booted, but literally nothing have changed. was still in Russian, with flipped and distorted picture.

To show you what I mean here you are a few pictures and videos. What do you think?

Hm... so why is the image is rotated 180 degrees and its blurry when text is showing up?

    Cheers

    Good morning

Language is not an issue for me. Russian is one of few I do know. But flipped picture is a problem as well as blurry picture. Its absolutely brilliant when showing hitachi welcome sign, but blurry when you access menu or any writing ( Like volume, signal not present, etc, etc)

Thanks guys, i have seen that video before, but couldnt remember what I was looking for ( exact phrase).

Anyway I was quite sure it was booting problem as it wouldn't even give a signal for LED backlight. So I reflashed both SPI flashes with dumps gotten from a russian site for a same model, but no U at the back. Now........... where do I start

Good news..... it starts, backlight are on it shows picture....in russian......upside down...in a worse quality than it should....

    Anyone...

This evening I will be making programmer for 25qXX flashes to be able to do that myself. I have the dumps from russian site anyway. Just I didnt really want to desolder the flash chips, hence me asking how was it flashing with the firmware on USB drive

Sorry - a slight mistake and update on the stand by led: when in stand by its red and not blue. Second thing is that when switched on from remote it flashes 7 times red with blue inbetween than all light is off for a half of a second. Afterwards its back to square 1 - 7 red ( with 6 blue in between) flashes again pause and so on.

  • Hitachi (Vestel) 32hxc05u blue/red stand by flashing

    Good evening guys.

Here is a toy I am playing with today

    Hitachi 32HXC05U

    Main board : 17MB82-2 23118936
    Power supply: 17IPS19-4
    Display: VES315WNEA-01-B

Will not turn on. It sits comfortably in Stand-by with good 12v supply from PSU.
When you switch it on LED starts to flash between blue and red. You still have +12v with the addition of +24v. Here comes BUT - on the control pin for backlight ON there is nothing - zero. Obviously voltage on the LEDs is just 24v without ground being switched by its controller....

  • Re: Vestel 17PW16-2 troubleshooting

    Right -
I have around 324v on c819, if I lift Mosfet fuse does not blow.

As to the transformer explanation - this is not your most common transformer, but its a single coil(choke) like in boost converter -this "transformer" has only one winding, no secondaries.

  • Re: Vestel 17PW16-2 troubleshooting

    Hey guys
Time for an update - been busy with other junk - too many projects ( biggest is a recovery truck).

Now replaced mosfet with the correct one and checked c920 - according to my multimeter its 200pF which is off but not enough to be doing this shit. Bare in mind my multimeter is not a pro so could be within speck or even more out of spec. Result- same in 2 secs after switching on fuse blows and mosfet has shorted again. Really puzzled.

Good thing I have 4 more mosfets.
Bad thing i am running out of...

Have already checked most elements in a IC802 and mosfet's circuit. Didnt check c920 though. Will do when get the original mosfet. The whole repair is put on hold until than.

Yes - all of the voltages are present as follows:
    Vf_main - 14.7v
    VCC1 - 12.98v
    Vcc2-12.8v

    EDIT:

Been messing around with it. R823 that is between IC802 and the Q803- Mosfet I changed before was blown. After replacing it (had 11 ohms instead of 15) Mosfet blew again as well as the fuse.

  • Re: Vestel 17PW16-2 troubleshooting

    Hm
It did absolutely nothing, same voltage. Initially I thought that maybe it has popped again, but no. It was not even warm, so not overloaded. So I am facing 2 options in my opinion - IC802 or... my choice of the Mosfet

It had P9NK50ZFP, but I had 15N65C3. Both N - channel power FETS

    Old vs New
    V ds 500 650
    I ds 7.2 15
    R ds (ON) .72 0.28

    For full datasheet see attachments

    Any bright Ideas???...

  • Re: Vestel 17PW16-2 troubleshooting

    Hm... its 324v.... weird.

EDIT: R830 is gone. Well at least I think so. Its the only one fitted there ( there should be R829 as well, but its not here from factory). its 2 reds and a silver strip, which should be 0.22 Ohms???? Nope - multimeter wont even register it.

  • Re: Vestel 17PW16-2 troubleshooting

Q803 is a switching power MOSFET for some sort of active PFC. On the Schematic diagram its noted as RESONANT PFC. Its driving part looks ok with no short circus to the driver. Besides this part is OK as all other parts are taking power supply from here. If this was gone I would think that stand by would be gone as well.

See the attached file. The only control from mainboard is to pin 6 of the PL803 connector. This gets from main board +3.3v. I presume this is in OFF state due to the arrangement ( see the attachment)....

  • Vestel 17PW16-2 troubleshooting

    Hi Guys

Today I am playing with a funny behaving power supply board.

Somebody recapped it before, but by the looks of things couldn't get it going as it was popping the fuse. Q803 was to blame. So replaced it with something I had with similar data. Good news - it doesn't pop the fuse, has stand by 3.3v and 5v. But nothing more. Did look at the manual for it and it appears that when its in stand by it gets 3.3 v back from main board. When in full power it should get 0 at the stand-by pin? Am I wrong? tried unplugging main board and bridging controls to see if 24v for...
