Samsung UE40D5520 bad picture showing (panel or T-con issue?)

Good day folks. I believe I have a bad panel on my hands here, but of course I'd like to check with you guys before I dive into any time consuming repair attempts. It's a Samsung UE40D5520 which displays the garbled mess you can see in the pictures: the first two images shows what the TV displays with both buffers connected to the T-con board (I took it just as I was writing this, LOL ). That thick line that seems to be running across the display is not a crack, it's the VGA cable that I used to connect the set to the PC, so don't pay attention to that - the panel is fine (at least physically). The following images show what the panel displays with each of the two ribbon cables disconnected from the T-con one by one. First, the one on the left was disconnected, then the one on the right (in the following picture). As you can see, there IS some picture showing, but it's still very distorted with lots of lines running across it and there's some "ghosting" going on on the disconnected side. Most importantly, the side that's disconnected, to my mind, should stay completely white on a fully functional set. I also read somewhere else around here that the D series is known for having faulty panels, so that's what further leads me to think it's not the T-con. What do you think ? Worth fiddling with it, or is it going straight in the trash ?

Since both sides show a bad picture when either side is disconnected, I will say a bad panel.....but wait for a response from the more experienced engineers before tossing it.

It's not mine anyway, so it's the client who decides if they want to scrap it or not...I'd be more than happy to keep it, TBH, since it has all those neat boards I can use in other sets

Yep, that's the post I came across myself. Probably the panel - still waiting for thoughts though.

Possibly tab bonds, but panel for sure.

Samsung TV model UE50TU: rebooting, backlight, sound, but no picture
              by TR103
              Hi, I have a Samsung UE50TU with:
              - sound and backlight, but no picture
              - when it arrived, it had a picture for a few seconds
              - it keeps rebooting
              - without ribbon cable between the two panel boards, it does not reboot but I have no picture
              - without cable between mainboard and lcd panel, it does not reboot (but obviously i have no picture)
              - when i try a tape fix, its keeps rebooting, unless I tape off pin 1 (the innermost pin). In that case it does not reboot but I have no picture.

              - without cable between mainboard and lcd panel and with a jumpered...

SAMSUNG UN55KS9000F picture fades then distorts into vertical lines after 20 seconds
              by JJAAMM
This was my main TV for the last 6 years. I'm not inclined to throw out a $2600 TV so quickly so I'm trying to investigate the issue.

              Problem
TV was disconnected from power for 6 months during construction. When I plugged it yesterday picture was fine, after 30 seconds it dimmed then started developing horizontal lines, picture then starts to ghost vertically until it degrades into vertical streaks. TV always displays a perfect picture when cold. I can unplug TV for 5 minutes and plug it back in and picture is restored for 20 seconds. I can also keep it in standby mode...

Samsung LCD TV no picture backlight on no 12v at tcon
              by shelby5041
              hi
i have a samsung lcd tv

it powers on with sound and backlight but no picture

all voltages from PS are good 12v 3.3v and 5v

whats odd is that at the tcon i tested voltage across the fuse on the tcon and i get 0v

i figured main board issue..so i ordered a used main board....when i put replacement main board in i still have same issue

no 12v at the tcon fuse

i disconnect the panel ribbon cables to rule out any panel issues and i still have no 12v at the tcon fuse

              the odds of having 2...

Samsung QN75Q6DRA, No Picture, Has BL, and Sound

              Hello all,

This is my first post, but long term lurker on the form learning as much as possible about these TV's. I was given this TV as due to a power outage of constant On/off of power to TV. The TV originally would just click on and off (Typical Reboot Cycle). I opened the back of the TV, and troubleshooted by taking the 96 pin LVDS off one at a time to see if I had a picture on either side. I finally fixed the reboot cycle by finding the error on the left side of the screen off connector CN 1301, and the TV would stay on. Further troubleshooting led me to the driver boards where...
