    Samsung LE23R88BD stands light flickering?

Tv standby light began to flicker and TV won't turn on now. It's become increasingly more temperamental until recently where the standby light just flickers all the time. Was wondering if any of you guys know what this could be so I get a head start when I pull the back off this afternoon.

    Thanks,

    Loz

Can't really offer a diagnosis until we've seen the patient. If you can provide clear and sharp photo's of the panels at the back of the set would prove to be a useful aid to begin with.
Willing to help but I'm no expert.

To give you a little head start:

Measure the STBY voltage with the main board plugged in and see if it is stable. Then unplug the main board and check again the STBY voltage rail on the PSU and see if it is stable now. Check the caps on the PSU and post some high quality, straight shot pictures of your PSU and mainboard.

Common issue is bad caps and bad solder joints on these. Please upload images of the Tv.

Right guys, I've taken the back off, no obvious signs of damage or domed caps. The voltage on the standby pin is all over.. goes all the way up to 9v and back to 1v when it says it should be 5.2v.. unplugged main board and it still does it. Assuming this means the PSU is at fault? Apologies for the poor quality pic. Hope it's ok.

          Thanks.

The inverter connector is only unplugged from when I removed the board to check the underneath. It wasn't run like that.

We need high resolution, sharp, straight shot picture of the PSU, so we can read the details of the PSU.

              Is the PSU a BN44-00158a?

Bottom right corner, there are 3 caps. Is one of them for the 5VSB? CB852?
Anyway... those 2 caps in the corner look like they got hot, as the plastic around it shrunk.

One of them is a CB852 yes. I'll take it out and check the capacitance and let you know. Thank you again.

I am pretty sure you have to replace those 2 caps. I think the one in the very corner is the one for the 5VSB. Replace both of them and retest.

Thank you so much CapLeaker. Swapped out that 10v 1000uf CB852 and the diode as well as it measured very low. TV works perfect. Fired up instantly and I've turned it on and off a few times just to check. First time I've come across a bad cap that wasn't visually deformed. Thanks once again and for your time. Such a great forum.
