    LG LED 60LS5750 - T-Con Question

    Hi Guys,

Me again. So I picked up a 'nice' LG LED Smart TV (model above) a couple months back that had a scrambled video... but audio was fine. Forgive me if I posted this already.

I reflowed the main BGA (IC201) and that 'resolved' the issue. I was happy, until last night. Something went on the T-Con again (I think) as I've gotten the same failure back, scrambled video (audio ok).

Doing some digging... I found the original T-Con board (Sharp) P/N RUNTK5119TPPZ can be replaced with a Vizio (Sharp) RUNTK5261TPZC T-Con. This is according to ShopJimmy.

    https://www.shopjimmy.com/sharp-runt...-con-board.htm

Has anyone done this??? If not, I guess I'll be the guinea pig here because I ordered one this morning.

Back when I first got the tv, I checked Ebay for replacement T-Cons (under P/N RUNTK5119TPZZ) and found a seller the had the 5261 listed as 'an upgraded version' of the original 5119, that can be used in the LG 5750, 5700 and a couple other models.

Thinking out loud here... I believe this should work, but thought I'd ask some of you guys on here that may have more experience.

Any info you could provide would be appreciated. I'll post back with results after I install it. It 'should' be fine. Hopefully!

    Thanks much,

    Gregg

I guess no one's tried this, or heard of trying this replacement T-Con board then.

I haven't gotten to replacing it yet... but found something kind of interesting. When the inside house temp gets to be 75 F, the TV 'acts up' and starts flickering and gets random vertical bars in it, audio is fine. If we shut it off... wait 10min or so, while the A/C runs (turning the thermo to a 'cooler' setting)... it's fine! It's repeatable too!

We had warmer/humid weather here about a week ago here in the Midwest, and that's when it started acting up. I know T-Cons are known for causing a wide range of issues in different makes/models of TVs... so I hope that's it. I can't see it being the panel, otherwise it wouldn't be this intermittent and repeatable, if that makes any sense.

A better way to find out if it's repeatable is to use hot and cold air directly on the board. Have you tried adding a heatsink to the ic, if it doesn't have one already ?
