S Video To Component Video Conversion issue

I have a simple svideo to component video cable adaptor and when i try to connect it to component video I get a bluish image. When I tried swapping the connectors (Y.Pb.Pr) I get a bluish or a redish or a black&white image. Does a simple cable adaptor really work?.

I am connecting an svideo-out of a DVD player to a TV ' s component-in. There is a possibility that the DVD player is sending only svideo signals. Just want to know does a svideo signal sent to component-in of a TV cause a bluish or a black&White picture?.

That means you are not getting RGB colors, your DVD probably just sends out Y and C signals only, no RGB.

so the svideo signals when fed to a component-in of TV may cause the the TV to display bluish or black&awhite image?. Will the svideo lumi and cromo signals be recognised by the component-in to display even a blueish or a black&awhite images.?
