    Wanting to learn

So I'm going to be trying to open an electronic repair service in my area working from home, I used to work for an electrical company for over 6 years so I have some experience, but after the loss of my daughter my life views changed and I liked the idea of working from home so I could be with my family, I'm hoping to be doing TVs more than anything, iv fixed a few TVs so far (and a few PCs) like replacing bad caps and changing a few boards but I feel like I'm only scratching the surface of what I could know, so I was hoping some people could point me in the right direction of things I could read or videos I should watch to help me on my adventure, I would just like to say a big thanks you to who ever posts back

I really hate to burst your bubble, but TV repair is unsustanable anymore.
Things I've fixed: anything from semis to crappy Chinese $2 radios, and now an IoT Dildo....

Excuse me while i do something dangerous

You must have a sad, sad boring life if you hate on people harmlessly enjoying life with an animal costume.

Sometimes you need to break shit to fix it.... Thats why my lawnmower doesn't have a deadman switch or engine brake anymore

      +1

If you're really keen, then you're going to have to "value add" to your service. You'll have to diversify into mobile phone repair, computer repairs including virus and malware cleaning. Working from your home is probably not an option. A mobile service that can repair devices at the customer's home or workplace is better.

Other post is correct. Here in Oz its all throwaway. What I do is advertise locally on social media to take nonworking sets away if 39" or above flat screen and try to fix for about $50/60 AUD my cost. This is usually replacement board cost (got one from UK recently also US and Poland but mainly China). You perhaps can then resell them but little in it as new sets 40" here under $400. I did have successful part time laptop sales and repair from home for about 12 years but only made $10/12,000 p.a. and now with iPads tablets etc and prices also well down not much in it. I think you would need to be a general electronic repair centre visiting for larger items and taking in the smaller ones - perseverance pays off but hard to say to what extent in these cases. We too lost a daughter so all the best mate and make the rest of your life one she would be proud to have seen.

You could possibly do electo-mechanical repair at home.

Really sorry to hear about your daughter jmh. Yeah I'd agree with the above that broadening your area of expertise would be beneficial.. I spent the other day looking at a vision aid machine for a blind guy up my road.. The trick is getting the word out there.. You'll always know someone with a broken tv, who will then also know someone else with one. Like you, I spend most of my time here learning and just viewing forum posts as I still have a lot to learn with tv's. All the best. Loz
