Please Help! LG 60PZ950 plasma doesn't have any picture nor sound when turn on.

    As title.

The power indicator did change from red to blue, and the panel does have a slight glow to it.

Thank you so much! I can't afford another TV now.

Hi, search on 60pz950 only found other discolor problem, not the no picture/sound problem that I have.

Tom66's general plasma thread suggested to test without the z-sus first, so should I disconnect both connectors I circle in red? Much thanks!!

      Quote from tom66's plasma guide : https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=18542&

"No picture. Big one, lots of causes, lots of problems. First, check if you have sound when you plug in a source. If so, it's probably not a power supply fault. Does the set respond to the remote control or side buttons? Is it stuck in standby? There are too many power supply faults here to debug - create a thread.

However, if it doesn't seem like a power supply fault - if you have sound and the TV will respond normally - then it's likely a Y-sustain or Z-sustain fault.

If you don't have sound: First, turn the TV off and unplug it from the wall. Give it 5 minutes to discharge the capacitors. Then, unplug the connector going to the Z-sustain.Now plug it in, do you have sound? If so, the Z-sustain is failed. Now, give it another 5 minutes and then disconnect the Y-sustain and re-connect the Z-sustain. If it now powers up with sound, then the Y-sustain is faulty. With a Y-sustain problem, it can also be a buffer problem. If your TV has two buffers (upper and lower), disconnect the upper buffer (wait 5 minutes before doing so), and see if you get a picture on the lower of the screen, then swap around. The board that when removed gives a picture is faulty. If your TV has only one buffer, remove that and see if it comes on with sound.

If you have sound: This is often a Y-sustain fault. There is usually at least one fuse on the Y-sustain. First, unplug the TV and give it 5 minutes to discharge the capacitors. Then, set your DMM to the 200 ohm range. Touch the red and black together. Note the reading, it should be around 0-2 ohms. Now, touch one probe on one end of the fuse, and the other probe on the other end. If your DMM reads "1" on the left hand side, or "OL", the fuse is blown. If you get the same value as when you touched the probes together, the fuse is not blown.

You should replace the fuse. Should that then blow again, you need to repair or replace the Y-sustain. Diagnosing a particular fault is tricky and requires considerable experience. Unless the Y-sustain is very expensive, or difficult to repair, I would advise a simple swap of the board."

Ok right as the panel does light up/prime, this means the sustain boards are working for now but there is no information being written to the panel meaning now image.

Do you know how to run the test patterns for Lg Plasmas if not I will instruct you ? Also I would advise for this model after repair you resolder the coils on the Zsus help prevent future issues.

sorry, dont know how to run test pattern, please advise.

I did check the solder on the back of the z-sus, they seem good. but you are right, it's good to resolder them to prevent future issues

I'm having the same issue with no pic or sound. TV powers on with the blue light on front, blinks when pressing remote so it's getting a signal. I disconnected first the Y-Sus board. No sound or pic. Then the Z-sus, same result. I tried the 2 buffer boards, first the upper. Half of horizontal screen was light gray color. Same thing happened with the lower disconnected. The one thing I found out of place but not sure about is on the upper right corner of the Main Board looks like soldering flux or melted parts? Here some pics I took along with a New Main Board pic. I do not have MM so I cannot check the values.

I managed to get some pics of the back of the Z-Board. The three coils are what this is. Looks like some cracks in the solder. The one thing that I can't figure out is how remove the board itself from the three connector clips. I can't seem to disconnect it from the thin board so I tried removing that one as well but I can't figure out how to remove the ribbon cables. I release the latch and they are loose, but they wont slide out. If anyone knows how to do it please advise.

Gently squeeze both sides of connector and pull out. It will move about 1/8 of an inch. Then take something, like a guitar pick, and push the ribbon down and wiggle it out. There are two "fangs" that hold the ribbon cable in.

resolder coils on y-sustain board as well.

Does anyone know how to remove the Z-Sus board from these connectors. I just can't figure it out?

I use a 4" jack knife. Start at the top, then go to the bottom, and keep working at it. It will come apart. There are some heat sink pads under the board that seem to make it stuck, but it will come loose.

Turns out that the Mainboard was bad. I was able to get another in the set it fired right back on. Hopefully this set will last me a bit longer before moving on to OLED as prices continue to fall.

It seems my enjoyment was short lived. I now have sound, but no picture. I suspect a faulty Y-Sus board. Going to see if I can have it repaired or opt for a new set.

Did you check the coil solder connections on the Z and Y board?
