I recently picked up a TCL(never heard of it) brand 40" LED TV and all it will do is the power light will come on when plugged up. My question is if the video board is bad should I be able to take that board out and the screen still light up? The inverter is built into the power board. It only has 3 boards. Power board and video board and remote board. Please someone reply and let me know if you know.

Re: TCL 40" LED issues
You can check the DCV at the PS-ON, bl-on pinS of the power supply to see if it has >2.5VDC, if it does then the balclights should come on.
How about uploading good clear pictures of the boards, and also give the model numer.
TCL is sold at Costco and Walmart at low price and I do not expect them to be around years from now..Last edited by budm; 07-31-2016, 05:55 PM.Never stop learning

Re: TCL 40" LED issues
Thanks Bud, I was hoping you would reply. I have attach the pics. The power board is the actual one and I did not keep the video board out. The pic is exact as mine. When I press the power button the red light goes off. I have to unplug it and plug it back in for the red light to come back on. There is a keen or sharp humming noise coming from the large canister capacitor. Not loud but enough to hear it. First LED set I have had. How do I know if the screen is bad?Comment

So what DCV do you have on those pins of the connector when TV is turned on?

Re: TCL 40" LED issues
I tried to check them and seems they were out of range. My meter was showing 012 to 014 on most. Probably did it wrong. I will try again this evening and take my time. It has been awhile for me on these tvs. But when I press the power button the standby light disappears and there is no voltage on the pins until I unplug it from the power and plug it back up. I checked the voltage on the cap and it trickles down to zero. I probably done it wrong. I will try again maybe this evening. Thanks for the reply.Last edited by joeshannallie; 08-01-2016, 06:43 AM.Comment

Re: TCL 40" LED issues
Hello there,
I have a TCL Tv that the initial problem was that it would play fine for 10 to 15 seconds and it would cut off. So I replaced the main board and tv played great but when I was closing the tv I noticed a distorted picture. I wiggle the LVDS cable that connects main board to interface board (not sure if I would call it T-Con) and picture looked good. I taped the LVDS cable thinking it was loose but nothing, problem still come and goes when I wiggle cable.
I decided to reversed the cable (it works with samsung tvs) and tv now shows like if its stuck in a test pattern. It shows green, blue, red color (see pictures).
I couldn't understand why so I put it back to like it was originally and now it doesnt show anything at all, just the backlight appears to be on and sound.
Any suggestions? I added a few pictures.Comment

Re: TCL 40" LED issues
You may want to remove the cable and real close at those exposed conductors at the both ends of the cable to make sure there is no damages and all the cable are seated properly.Never stop learning

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....-

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?by Tynan DillI was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.
Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.
I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.
The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.
With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

by lostoneHello, I came here after finding some similar questions asked on other monitors and hope someone here can help me get an ancient Viewsonic VP230mp (23" 4:3 LCD) back to working condition.
First a little background, I have a background in computer and electrical engineering, and I'm smart enough to know I know nothing about LCD displays and how they work. For this topic I'm as green as they come.
When the display is turned on the viewsonic logo displays in the uppper left for 2 seconds then the screen goes black, the power LED is green (on) and when a computer is connected...-

Hi all. I was given this JBL Flip Essential speaker that 'fell from about 8 feet' and then the bluetooth would no longer function. It seems to power on normally and responds to button presses, but it will not showup on bluetooth for any device I try to connect to it.
The bluetooth daughter board has a 26mhz oscillator that I could not get to read the proper frequency so I tried replacing that to no avail. Thought maybe something was wrong with the bluetooth IC it's connected to, so I tried replacing that as well. None...10-28-2024, 09:29 PM - Loading...
