VW42L Help please, powers on with backlights, no menus

    I'm working on a craigslist find, a VW42L with a 3642-0252-0150 Mainboard.

I bought it with the usual story told to me that it just quit working.

After I opened the tv, I could see that they had tried repairing the mainboard by replacing the 1117 regulators at u2, u7, u8, u9 and a 1718 at u33.

I checked the PSU model 0500-0507-0450 and found that it was bad, (no powering up when voltage applied to the pson pin)

So instead of fixing that PSU I ordered a 0500-0507-210 from ebay, and installed it.

Now the TV comes on, turns on the backlight, but no menus or anything on the screen. Power button turns the tv off and on.

On a visual inspection of the main board, I'm missing the surface mount component at l44, it's inline to the cpu on the board, and you can see where is was broken off.

Any suggestions of a replacement for that? Or could a bad eeprom be causing these symptoms.

(Also, does anyone have the eeprom image for this mainboard?)

Can we see what this 'l44' looks like?

You can see it in this picture, it's located below the j7 connector.

It is inductor. So what dcv do you have at either ends? You can bypass it with jumper wire to see if the TV will function.

Samsung UE48H6410 replaced Mainboard but backlights doesnt go on
            by max789
Hello, I have a problem with my Samsung UE48H6410SSXZG with the main board BN41-02156A and the power board BN44-00709A. Everything seemed like this, the TV could no longer be switched on, the standby LED always flashed 5x2 times. Backlight was off and no sound from TV. Also made the flashlight test and there was no picture.

            I made the following tests:
            1. Disconnected the main board from Power Board = backlight works.
            2. Connected the main board and disconnected the T-Con = backlights does not work.

So I ordered a main board from Ebay also BN41-02156A but from...

Philips 65PUS6554/12 - only powers on if you prime backlights first
            by djmka
            Hi everyone.
I have a problem that I would appreciate some expert advice on.
I have a 65” Philips television which powers on, has sound but but no picture. Usually this would lead me to believe an open circuit was present on the backlights. However, if I disconnect the mains power cable to the television and test the power cable going to the backlights using a LED tester, no open circuits are present. If I reconnect the backlight cable to the power board and replace the mains power cord to the tv the device fires up perfectly and displays a beautiful picture. It's almost as though...

un60j620dafxza - Samsung No Display Problem
            by stylishconsultant
            Hi All,

            Need help.

I have a samsung un60j620dafxza led tv. When I plug it in it has no display, no sounds, and no standby lights.

So I opened the tv and disconnected the power to the mainboard and the backlight powered up. This according to many people says that this is a mainboard
problem. I checked the voltage coming from the stb and I read 1.3 volts on pins 1,3,5 and 7 which are low volts instead of 13 volts which i think the lcd panel
might be drawing too much power from the power supply that it prevents the right voltage going to the mainboard....

Bad panel or bad mainboard? Visio E601i-A3

Tv powers on and input is able to be selected/used, but the on screen menu closes as soon as it is opened and the there are some periodic "glitches" of the on screen menus in relation to position and size. I have tried all the system resets, but because the menus are not usable, i was unsuccessful. Does this seem like a panel issue? Odd that it only affects the menus and not the main input picture. I have already tried disconnecting front panel buttons assuming one was stuck down causing the input to continually be scanned or similar.
