    SONY KDL-55EX500 issue

Recently I am getting back into TVs after not working on them since the 90s. I have one at work and this is what I have been told about it. The TV powers on and green indicator light comes on and stays on, but no image is projected onto the screen. Changing inputs and other settings options make no difference. The only way to get the green light to go off is to unplug power from TV.

Has anyone seen this issue before and if so what fixed the issue. I have yet to see it but I was wondering what to look for. I usually work on computer hardware and printers but now they have me looking at TVs as well. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

    Re: SONY KDL-55EX500 issue

Post up clear pictures of the back of the tv as well as each board.

There are some links in budm's signature that are extremely helpful!

It sounds like you have 5v standby but no 12v/24v to power the backlights.
This could be that your main board is not sending the signal to power board, power board has issues, backlight inverters bad, bad backlights, something else. Time to take the back off and follow bud's guides.

Well I got it in. I took it apart and as far as I can tell it works fine. I did notice that a plug going to what looks to be the power supply from the board that has the inputs may have been loose. I re seated it and that may have been the issue. I have it on the bench now and will run it today. Thanks for the info.

I'm currently having the same issue. TV is acting very strange. Light in front goes green but no backlight, image or sound. Sometimes green light is not even on, looks completely dead.
Opened TV, reseat cable that goes from main to power and tv came back on. Customer states that they used to get the TV back on after unpluging it and pluging it back a few times.

I went ahead and replaced main board (purchased from Shopjimmy), resoldered power board, performed software update. Tv worked great for few hours and problem came back.

        Any suggestions?

Sony SLV-E780 Power Supply Issue – Clicking Sound, Need Help Identifying Faulty Component
          by Akuanka
          Hi everyone,

I'm troubleshooting a power supply issue with a Sony SLV-E780 VCR. The device clicks repeatedly but doesn't power up completely. I've already replaced five capacitors, but the problem persists.

Here's a video link https://photos.app.goo.gl/3Xki6yvCLn67gLX78 showcasing the sound. Based on your experience, could this be due to a transformer, diode, or another component? Any guidance on what to test or replace next would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Issue with picture quality of Sony bravia TV
          by CyberPhoenix
Hello, Last week I bought the 50" Sony X80j tv everything was working fine, untill I plugged the tv in a ups power supply 650va the tv remote control became unresponsive and the TV became laggy after a while the picture quality isn't the same as before the tv seems less brighter and the picture is somehow blurry, people's faces don't look as natural as before, there is a mini orange-pink tint to the edge of people's faces especially in NETFLIX Dolby Vision like in One Piece ep1 Alvida skin tone, my intention was to protect the tv but something went wrong I checked the ups with a multimeter,...

          Sony KD-55X9000F TCON Issue
          by thelankanguy
The TV shows a black screen with no image.
TCON ribbon connectors were disconnected individually for image and there was no half image even.
Later both ribbons were disconnected and TCON voltages were tested.
12V, 3.3V, 1.8V were seen present but VONE signal reads 0V.
There is also a short to ground in this circled inductor.
Is this a TCON issue or something else ?...

Sony RB2G Chassis KDL-55W815B MAIN BOARD 2 Blink Error issue resolved! Happy days :)
          by cheeky2
For anyone interested just repaired this Sony Main board TV that had a 2 blink error code, the chassis is a RB2G which is common to quite a few different Sony models. The Ceramic 10uF 25V X7R 1206 capacitor C9114 was shorted which took the smd 2A 0603 fuse out F9101. This was powering the Buck converter TPS54332 which caused no 5V output from it.
See the attached picture of the locations of both components. I also attach the best service manual I found for this board for anyone else in a similar position of trying to repair this main board. It's not specific to the TV model however it gives...

          LCD TV Green/Pink screen problem
          by jimjoe123
I have a Dick Smith 37" LCD TV, Model GE6804. I am using it as PC extended monitor only.

Problem is while watching tv, I hear a semi loud click(like a electrical breaker tripping due to overload, just sound like it but no actual electrical overload), then screen is covered with green or pink. I can still see the original picture image but overlayed by green or pink. See attached images. Pink.jpg is what I see, and Normal.jpg is before green or pink screen, What I captured was pink screen, but about 80% of time it's green and 20% of time it's pink.

          Then each time...
