Issue with this TV is when BBC channel is selected TV will switch off and back on about 12seconds later. It only happens on BBC channels. I believe it to be a corrupted firmware issue but tried doing a factory reset many times to reset firmware. Been informed that when successful RESET should appear briefly at bottom left of screen. For some reason this does not happen and TV annoyingly refuses to be restored to factory settings. Any body able to help????

Really appreciate your help. I was trying pressing the up arrow and then pressing the manual power button on side. Which despite many attempts didnt activate factory settings as it should.
Now tried putting it into service mode as the instructions you forwarded to me. Again afraid no joy. What im finding is after pressing the i+ button when i press 5 as per instruction the TV switches on. Must of tried it a dozen or more times but still refuses to get into service mode. Had it gone into service mode I could have then pressed 8 then Mute then 0 to enable factory settings that way.
Have you ever had a Sony KDL that refuses to go into service menu?Comment

Hi satinser, this is my first post on this site so please forgive any transgressions, as my patience at the moment is pretty meagre!
I am trying to set a Sony KDL-32S5500 to factory settings also and have been through the same procedure as you, with the same negative results.

TV: JVC LT-43C888 (purchased in 2018). This is a smart TV with Netflix, Youtube, Freeview and other applications via 'Viewd' app store
Problem with TV:
- Netflix stopped working so i tried to do factory reset from the TV menu.
- I confirmed on-screen but the factory reset did not happen even. It did not take me to 'first-time installation' screen as mentioned in the manual.
- After waiting for some time, the TV went into a boot loop.
- JVC logo comes on the screen and LED light flashes for some seconds, then it reboots again and the same thing happens

I recently received an XR-77A80J that wouldn't turn on. (Repeating 5 flashes when plugged in.)
I did a hard reset by holding the power button for about 30 seconds until the set powered down. I then tried to turn it on and it powered up, bringing me to the setup screen. There's not a lot of detail on the setup screen but the picture didn't have any distortions, so at least a cursory examination suggests no physical damage to the screen. First of all, thank you everyone who helps others in here! You guys are treasures! Please bear with me, this may be long. I have tried a LOT.
First, my wife said the TV was turning off and on. When cold it would be fine for several minutes, then it would start resetting.
I opened it up and noted there are two main lines coming out of the supply besides the backlight., The T-Con 12V line and the main 12V line.
TRIED 1 - I scoped power coming from Power Supply while it was all still connected. I noted that just before it reset, the 12V line going to the T-Con was going... -
Hello. Have a 55" Hisense TV that starts to load the Android OS (no backlight issues) -> reaches the app screen where you can view the assorted icons including Netflix and always crashes at the same point just after this launch. If I quickly press the cursor buttons, the cursor can navigate to the settings menu but will power off just after a few seconds of this activity. Do not believe it is power related since the crash is very accurate in the boot cycle.
After the OS 'crashes', the power does go off and the from white LED goes dark for about 20 seconds and then ON again....
